Ryan: Meng why you gotta be like dat?
Ok so this wasn't really finished. I posted it on facebook and got a really helpful crit from Elwell, so I worked on it some more. Mostly glazes. Now it's done for real, mailed off and everything.
Also, that figure painting's done.
It seems like you're learning at a ridiculous pace right now! The last couple of paintings are really good. It's pretty cool to me, to see that you were able to achieve an intimidating feeling with some quite lush greens and warm yellows in the Eowyn & the Nazgul painting.
I love the painting of the couple on the couch, especially the interaction between the cool light and warm shadow; you handled that very nicely. Good stuff all around, pleasure to see![]()
Benjaminba: Thank you! Glad the mood comes off in that painting even with the summer colors, was worried that it wasn't going to work.
Here's a still life study I did, in preparation for an illustration I'm starting. (I've also been itching for an excuse to paint that broken sculpture that's been sitting in my studio).
sir.. i admire ur skills with the oilynessthat figure painting up here.. and the fantasy piece and this last half face/mask/bust .. its awsome.. but you knew that

peace! :X
Rbeek: Thanks!
So I was going to upload 28 pages from my current sketchbook, but I don't have even remotely enough patience right now to deal with CA's uploader or to manually link every photo, so here's a link to the pictures on my blog and a teaser.

What an awesome sketchbook! I love that piece you did for the contest. It looks masterly!
eowyn and nazgul looks awesome! good luck with the artorder![]()
Loathsome - Thanks!
Parsakoira: Thanks man! Doubt I'll do that well, there were a ton of great entries, but it's nice to finally have a portfolio piece.
New illustration and a quick study.

Sid you have amazing work! Especially your works from life. I am a beginner and I would to get any advice that helped you along your road. Also, did school greatly help you get to the point you are at today?
Your Eowyn and the Nazgul submission was one of my very favorites! So sublime
Bing!: Thanks
yogeshj25: Thanks! Man, honestly the best advice I can give is the same that was and is constantly given to me- draw! A lot. Do studies in your chosen medium, keep a sketchbook to record what you're seeing everyday in the world, and read as much as you can about art, there are tons of resources and blogs on the web. School's been great! I don't feel too good about the amount I've racked up in loans, but the teachers have been great and it's been very beneficial to be surrounded by other artists every day.
wind up bird - Thanks!
New oil painting.
I REALLY LOVE all your figurative work and the color palettes you've chosen for them. Wonderful juxtaposition between color and mood/psychology of the individual within the piece.. keep on going man!
awesome sketchbook.. your oil paintings are very beautiful
Awesome control of light, man! And control of the oils. Respect, sir.
Odayga, Boj and Flying Dutchman, thanks so much!
Working on 2 one-sheets for a friend of mine. Here are some thumbnails for them. The first three are for one screenplay, and the last 2 are for another.
One of the one-sheets.

Du5k: Thanks! I still do digital occasionally, but nothing's as fun as a brush in your hand.
davK: Thanks!
NailbiterMR: Thanks! I'll post a progress thing at some point, I don't really have a set process though. Really depends on the painting.
Another of the one-sheets.
Fucking awesome job on these paintings and sketches. You seem to be very calculated and less rough with your application of paint, though. Try and get a little vicious from time to time!
CountBlackula: Thanks! Believe me, I'm trying, I just end up making things look like crap quickly. My quest to loosen up continues!
Another quick painting and a page from my sketchbook.
Doing some visual development for a story I'm working. Here are some costume designs for the main character.
Some stages in a painting I'm working on/fighting with.
Got some good lighting going on there man
Fushandchups: Thanks!
Finished D&D piece, and another illustration I whacked out in a few hours today.
!!!
that last piece
man thats amazing, you know i love all your paintings, but that one is different
so much expression dynamic and the blacks!
fantastic, man!
xbert: Thanks. My work's been looking pretty stiff of late, so I'm glad that one came out looking more dynamic.
Some sketchbook pages.
