    Hannez sketchbook

    Hi everyone,

I finally decided to create my own sketchbook.
I'm 19 years old, live in Belgium and study Digital Arts and Entertainment, I'm in my second year now.

I'm hoping to get a lot better :p

See my recent work at the last page

Hmm...it looks like you're just taking the concept of "pod racing" from Star Wars and calling it something else...

As far as everything else goes...study anatomy and do some figure drawing.

posemaniacs.com is a great resource for quick gestural practice.

@DeeLock: It was a school assignment to design your own podracer, so it had to look like one :p

Here are some of my latest sketches.
The 3 to the left are from photo reference. The 2 in the upper right are from wolverine origins, the one with the sketch markers is from 7brothers. The other 2 I did on the train.

Shen Yi is the Chinese sun god who shot nine of the ten suns when they were burning the earth. Shen Yi became the lord of the tenth sun. He received a draught of immortality from the goddess Xi Wang-mu.

This was made for a painting competition at school, take an existing god and turn it into a robot.
Turned out I got the most votes :d

Here are some sketches I make the last days. 3form photo 2 from a comic called hostile.
I know the proportions are not always right :s, but ill be practising that. I'll alse need to get more patient when I drawing.

Here's a robot I had to draw for a school project along with the sketches needed to get to the final design.
It had be some sort of cute stealth bot, with al lot of round forms.

I really like those robot designs. Pretty cool stuff here.
Are those headphones all 3d or is it a paintover? Looks sick!

Nice progress! The stealth bot is probably one of my favourites from you! Good to see a whole spread with orthos and a posed version!

Your faces, even the cartoony ones, could benefit from some studies. If you do Bridgman, Mentler, Loomis, Hogarth or whomever, it'll translate to your cartoony stuff as well

Here's my latest painting. Done for a painting competition at school, the subject was design a Renegade and his/her space bike.
The bike design was the hardest part for me.
I used self made brushes to try to quickly add detail and texture to a painting.

in the last painting i think you need better lighting and such, as the figure seems to be to dark and doesn't stand out to much.
My observational skills may be great but i said nothing about my drawing skills

Your work is quite nice, I like the image in post # 24. But I feel that you need still quite a bit of work in anatomy , proportions and perspective/foreshortening. These are just some very basic and important things you have to get down before an image can be mind-blowingly awesome. Some colours could be less satureated as well.

Nice variety of stuff you have here!
Great bike and headphones, the stealth robot is looking good too. I'll second Janos about the anatomy and all that stuff. Also, the face features look too flat sometimes, make some studies of those.
Oh and I like the mask of that superhero, makes me think of the movie Nacho Libre
Just keep at it, progress will come, slowly but surely!
