Thanks, Bhanu. For the black and white image above I just did a light drawing in pencil and then used washes of black ink at different values, leaving areas wet and dropping ink into them, trying to see what would happen - some happy accidents and some not so happy. For the other, I did a drawing with a calligraphy nib and black ink and then sealed it by rolling matte medium across it. The ink was water-soluble so it smeared when I rolled the medium across it creating an interesting texture and some softer edges. Then I just put a warm acrylic wash on top of it and then added in some lights.
