EDIT November 2010: Wow! It's now been a year since I edited this post with the commitment below. Since then I've joined TAD and my skills are improving much more quickly. I don't get much time to post anymore, so I'm not updating daily, but I come here about once a month or two months and post some recent work. The TAD updates start on page 14.

I have my artistic life planned. It would kill me to watch even a single one of those plans never come to fruition.
I love creating art. I love exorcising the products of my imagination. I love life, even though it sucks and I hate it.
I can't afford to let the laziness creep in. I won't let this inspiration be fairy gold, and I refuse to be left with leaves in the morning. I will keep my talent going at this momentum if I have to drag its screeching, protesting bulk through every hardship that can befall a person.
That is my promise. I make it to everyone and everything I care about. I make it to my imagination, and I make it to the future I desire.

But most importantly, I make it to myself.

hey man great start to your sketchbook, your anatomy skills look great in that first picture, and i really like your silhouette thumbnails, interesting shapes would love to see them painted.
My only criticism would be lack of traditional media such as pencils or markers but that is only a minor thing. keep up the great work

Hi, Bagg. I'm still working on getting pencils uploaded, much of which will be studies from Bridgeman's Constructive White Male Anatomy.

EDIT: Here they are! Some are new, some are older (the Bridgeman studies tend to be older- not that I'm not doing them still; I should have fresh studies from today and tomorrow... tomorrow). In the last one, the 'hanging creatures' to the left are shitty, shitty placeholders, and I apologize. And remember, no matter what your brain tells you to believe, there are absolutely no penises in these pages.

Some Bridgeman from today and yesterday, along with tests on what I've learned on the right hand side of the pages (mostly). The third page is from a cartoony mood I've been having recently.

Here are some story figures I just did that after visiting Abee's sketchbook. They tell one continuous 'story' climaxing in two speedily done close-ups. I had a lot of fun with these. I fully recommend this practice to any and every beginning artist; you learn so much about the subtleties of storytelling. Really little things like 'Arms spread and forwards is tentative, arms spread and backwards is aggressive, somewhere in the middle is going in for a hug.' I also learned that a lot of information can be conveyed about a hand with one very simple shape.

Well... I was going to have to double post at some point. Here's a brief digital sketch for tonight. I'm still trying to get the same feel for my digital work as I have for my pencils (i.e. loose and confident).

This smily's movements sync up perfectly to Para One's remix of 'The Prime Time of Your Life'.

I love your last environment.

The main flaw I see in everything is your heads. They looks flat and have no expression. Just keep at it though, I reckon you can make your job(dream) come true with enough dedication.

A response to Fraz's comment about expressions (except for the one farthest to the left, of course). Also, this was a much needed breakthrough in painting technique for me. The girl in the centre is the first non-environment that I have painted without the use of line. This is something that I've been trying to figure out for bloody ages, and it's the first major step in adjusting to digital from pencils. Until now I've only been able to do good linework and then ruin it by painting over it, but I'm starting to get comfortable with paint instead of fine lines. The top-right head came just before the break-through head.
Didn't get to scanning today, either. Oh well, I'll have plenty of time tomorrow. I'm starting my first oil painting tomorrow- part of a triptych of self-portraits in the style of Francis Bacon for coursework. Seems a lot like learning to swim before I can float, but that's art class. They expect me to be a retard with drawing and an experienced painter... totally the other way around. So, I'll be 'refining' my non-existent painting technique (this will be the fifth traditional painting I've ever done) all next week.

Pretty nice work! A lot of dedication in here.

Keep working on those pencil drawings. Try to mix in some drawings from life: anything, an apple, your hand. I think that'll add more three-dimensionality to your drawings and paintings. I like the monster at the top of #13.

Two from this morning. Both started out as mood pieces but the first one evolved into something more detailed. A photoreference was used for the stag.
I'm pretty happy with the results.

the realier drawings seems lacking contrast but i think u understood that later.
