Thanks for the support, guys. I really appreciate it.

AustenFM: I usually spend around 45 minutes on my DS paints. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I use an old Wacom pen instead of a stylus. Maybe try that?

William B: Thank you so much for the crits. A real eye-opener for me... particularly regarding drawing out the form. I think that will really help me. Oh, and "adorabots" is such an err... adorable phrase. I hope that isn't patented!

ThomasM: I used to use painter, but I've lost my disc and can't be arsed to go rooting for it. I don't really have any dedication for rendering. I'm lazy, so I just scribble a lot.

A couple of DSG's + some DS bits 'n' bobs...

Continually strong work, really loving the landscape pieces such as the recent bone/ivory like cliff, shows some strong rendering and nice texture work. Keep it up.

Hi Munin Raven, great sketchbook here! You have a lot of various stuff and it all look good. The plein air DS ones fascinate me most! Did you ever try some like these with traditional media?

I did a few watercolour sketches along with one or two acrylic canvases last year which scared the shit out of me. I started experimenting again last week and found that my digi' stuff had actually helped me with colour mixing a little, which I found very strange. Then again, maybe I cannot see my own errors. I'll have to experiment more and post some results in the hope that others will be quick to point the finger.

Here's a quick plein air speedie I did in my garden with my ageing laptop burning holes in my kneecaps...

Hey, this ship from your last post is really really cool! I like how you work with texures, and I see you become better with each painting. Sometimes you could use some brighter colours here and there to create a broader color range. But maybe that's just my personal taste, so don't give too much on it and keep up the nice work

Yor: Cheers. Hope you decide to get a DS. They are great fun.

GunTrouver: Thank you. I think you are right regarding my colour range. I tend to get bogged down with a small palette and play it safe. I should start breaking out of my comfort zone more.

Last of the DS paints for a while... need to start exploring anatomy, creatures, and characters more.

Incredible. Makes me want to go on a brush downloading spree. They are all beautiful. The ripples in the snow, wow.

Ahh... It's been so long since I updated this thread. I was going to start a new one, but what the heck... my old stuff looks overtly patchy, but I like a sense of history, and my newer stuff is probably just as patchy in some respects.
Okay, 2013 is the year I WILL kick start my sketching again. I've actually already picked up a pencil and begun filling pages in my sketchbooks... and I do mean filling them. Can't see the (paper) grade for the graphite in some cases, haha. Mucky fingers make me happy.

I haven't done much painting since I last posted. Most of my free time has been spent doing plein-air stuff on my old DS. I've probably got around 160-170 DS paints done over the last two years which may sound like a lot, but it isn't, really. It's certainly a lot to upload, so I don't know what I'm going to do there. I'll probably sift through them, pick out my fav's to share, and clump them into a few distinct groups. I've also done a bunch of laptop PS plein-air stuff, which I'll focus on now, while I build up my first batch of sketchbook scans.

Like I said, this is the year of the pencil, as far as I'm concerned. I want to make a decent effort to get back into a regular sketching routine - if only to clear some of the backlog of shit going on in my head. I've made all necessary preparations, and sacrificed my brothers first born to the graphite gods (don't worry, he was only mad for a few hours). With a sketchbook thread title like this one, I really do need to put out and represent.

2B, or not 2B. That is the question.

Anyway, here's the first batch of old plein-air laptop paints from 2011...

Thank you, Vulgar. It is very pleasing to receive feedback like that. I've been trying to put much more personal emotional feelings into my landscapes when painting on location. It has become very important and rewarding for me.

A little something for the current DSG topic...

Excuse me for this little notion, but I have one that revolves around wanting the link to my 'sketchbook' actually link to sketches and the dribble-shit (?) I tend to fill physical pages with. I looked at how the post numbers sit in relation to pages, and it looks like I'm close to jumping on a new page; one that can start with pencils, and continue with mostly pencils. I figure I need that new page. If only so I can link to it in my sig' and have some pencil wankerings out there from the start. So here's to getting me to the next page, where I can be free to post graphite gastronomics, and link to in my sig' and not feel bad about having a sketchbook with a title such as the one I chose.

    Post to pump!
