Thanks for the love, its very uplifting.

Here is an illustration im starting for intro to painting later this summer.

This was done for another class where we had to design a Tee shirt.
I originally planned to show the angles that fell with Lucifer. I decided to keep it simple and do the whole compistion as a painting. I did this from imagination save the left hand.

My goal was to get dynamic action in the pose and I wanted to convey as much emotion as I could. Which is where I failed.

The last of life drawing. He never mentioned a single muscle by name. I was frustrated the entire semester with my instructors wisdom but by the end of it all Im glad I got a different perspective of what we are trying to capture or express when drawing from life. Beyond flexors and meateus masses we should be putting our subject into context with the rest of the image.

Still so much to figure out.
These range from 15 mins to 2 hours

Well this has been a very busy summer. I took intro to sculpture and intro to painting at school. Im pretty pleased with how those turned out and Im looking forward to intermediate painting next semester.

I did 6 oil and and acrylic paintings and 3 sculptures in 6 weeks. I wouldnt recommend that kind of workload to anyone. It completely takes away your ability to work through a concept before starting a project. In some cases I ended up with a good render of a mediocre idea. In others I fell short on a really good idea because I ran out of time. In either case I would have disappointed a professional art director.

Ill make adjustments and head into this fall term with a better grasp on what I can and cant do under time limits.

The best news to come out of this summer was moving out of my parents home and reclaiming some dignity in my new apartment.

My goal for the rest of 2010 is to produce at least 1 killer piece for my graduation portfolio, get the livestream going, register myself as an LLC to raise some money for diapers; and last but not least get a grasp on color theory

Not much digital work to show, I need to get a better camera for the paintings as well. Thanks for stopping in

some good things happening in #157 - the figures have good confident shapes - which is huge to start to get.. that teacher who didn't mention much anatomy may have had a plan ( to focus on what you see - and after getting a grasp of that - THEN starting to learn the shapes of bones and muscle and cartilage ).. it appears to have paid off - now keep practicing !!! (and posting)

Thanks Kevin! I just checked out your blog and I gotta say I saw some great work there. Ill be watching

Im in another painting class this semester and Im giving some serious thoughts to switching to that major instead of Graphic Design. For one, color is so much easier to work with. Now I know its perfectly fine to have less than a million colors to choose from.

    Tis the season'
To be done with school. For now at least.

Heres some things I can put up now. These are 5 to 15 min studies from imagination, photo, and some Adolf Menzel portraits.

Also went to IlluxCon last month and decided it was feasible to have a portfolio ready to show before I graduate.

The goal is to have 12 pieces for 3 publishers. 4 pieces for each of them. Also, met an illustrator Ive been a fan of for over 15 years now. It was an inspiring show. Very revealing, go if you get a chance.

    Hey folks!

Here is some of the work Ive done since my last post. I was able to squeeze in some life drawing between my studies in watercolor and learning HTML.

My baby girl is 7 months old now and she has been a blessing ever since she arrived. She just started crawling crawling and thankfully, the only hardship I have had is balancing work time with all the time a baby requires.

    Ill start with Life drawings

The rest. The portraits I did after another artist suggested using Mugshots as a subject.

the others are ideas I havent followed through with.

The first portrait is of my step-daughter that I finished for mothers day.
