You could have shaded deeper in the monster's ears and there are some other details that I think might add to this. What kind of toenails might this monster have? Right now he has none. Do you think he would look cool with an expandable gullet like a pelican has?

For some reason he reminds me the alien IT hahah I dont really know what you tried to tell with this image but to make it more effective id sudgest to express the characters more.Like the monster is hungry wanting to eat that kid so he could have a more hungry look like he has not eaten for months and drooling alot while the litle poor boy all scared crying for hes mama and almoust weting hes pants.Hmmm if you are not much into backgrounds id sudgest to add a biiig scary monster shadow of the character.Theres plenty of things you can do.
For the anatomy i say,the boys one arm is shorter than the other and hes shirt dosent feels like real.I sudgest you to study clothes on human body a bit.

That creature is awesome! I like your original face much better than the crazed drooling one. He looks like he's just going about everyday life, about to eat a kid, a bit easy-going and almost bored. The neck and head are awesome!
