Btw, I'm now stalking your sketchbook.
nice studies dude, your hatching is getting really good. dont u stop now...
DTP: This is a good thread on edges http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=51913 also, hard edge on soft edge looks very satisfying to the eye. I tend to use the lasso tool a lot to get some nice edge variation, but it can tend to look like too much of a hard edge sometimes. Thanks
Krato: Thanks man
Parsakoira: haha i didn't D:
zou: thanks man
jordyskateboardy: Haha yeah thats been bugging me a lot lately, trying to find the right divide between line quality and construction, I'll work on it for sure! Cheers man
Benjie: Haha thankyou, I'm glad i got you off your butt to do some work
Krato: Yeah I really should, I'm too lazy I'll put more time into these. And I'm using an a4 200 gsm sketchbook. I do have a moleskine, I like them when I get into using them, but I always feel the papers too smooth to render on for my liking. Hope that helps? Thanks
Hive_minD: Thanks man
Ephelea: Haha a criticism would be nice Thanks
Jesus Food: I won't, cheers
So I got Demon's Souls, and thats eating a lot of time but it's all very visually inspiring..so that counts as an excuse
Arms, hogarth and some photos
Some mind stuff, tried a DanielC study and really didn't achieve the values I'd studied it for, let alone the structure
Some Demon's Souls inspired shit
an enviro so far
And some quick sketch a did a while ago but forgot to post
cheers for the link, another excellent post dude. lovin' that demon souls guy
Nice to see you getting back on it with the studies. I look forward to watching your work continue to get more awesome. You know what you gotta work on so just don't loose the fire with all that free time you've got now
DTP: No problem man and thanks muchly
Miles_: This summer, its all about the ping pong and the art
r y a n o i r: Cheers braaaa
life stuff, focusing on continuous lines
studies, from photos
life sketches of Miles, not very happy with these but they'll get better
And me trying to be bumskee, won't continue with this haha i can't pull it off
I think that one thing you could study more is a more analytical approach to figure drawing. Kevin Chen and Bammes. I think that it would help you with drawing the form and understand how body parts fit with each other.
Keep it up.
the line quality in your pencil work is looking pretty good. I like the hands especially . The tones in the very latest digital painting work well too, though I'd recomend keeping the tones in the shadow a little closer together and be very careful with putting in black marks.
you mean d@niel right? http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...8&d=1276774720
no krato, he means bumskee http://minart.net/datas/works/heavy_gunner_4.jpg
nice update bro, the bumskee one doesnt look so laid back as it does in mins, he shows the attitude of the pose and everything, like your knight(?) wouldn't be in some ally way would he? he mgiht be idk, it just dun fit, i see your trying to the lighting though and you did well! keep it up! and moaar stodehhzz!
Hey sam, the hard work=paying off. I like the bumskee-tribute and your pencils are looking quite nice.
Kicking ass as always I see.
Demon's Souls painting could use some more texture, looks too soft especially the neck area.
xinranliu: I'm on it thanks
Benjie: hehe work work work
monsi: Yurr that piece sorta sucks, I rushed it too much Thanks
alexson: Correct or not, I like it cheers
Krato: I mean Bumskee, but I know which piece you mean, I think that was probably Bumskee inspired too
r y a n o i r: Yeah I only really referenced the light, as for the storytelling absolutely no thought was put in I should starting using my brain more! Cheers brah
Eddieee: Thanks man
DefiledVision: Hopefully much more to come Thanks
Bombur: Yes I should start incorporating texture more Thanks
My A4 studies
Hands from life
Bammes and Hogarth
Photos life mind
life studies in line
and a little WIP, happy to take crits on it
On the last WIP, I find some things a bit confusing/inconsistent. Why is her arm covered in some black stuff? Where is she? Why is she topless? What's the story there?
Other things that bother me: the mid and foreground don't fit in with the background. Different lighting situations and palette make for a jarring effect. Also, her rib cage is too small for her head and arms/shoulders. I would add a bit to it on her back near the black arm. The composition can use a bit of reworking. I would show more of the tree and figure out a proper focal point. The city grabs too much attention.
