Walid D: I get what you're saying, but I feel that I do alot of life stuff even though it may not be daily. Thanks

A thing from mind because I can't paint from my mind for the life of me. I figure after I get through the first rubbish ones things should be fine. Just an area I haven't practiced much.

The last painting looks good. You have drawn a lot of self-portraits, I must say......And yeah, I also have the "I can't draw from mind for the life of mine" feeling. But yeah, just doodle on until it looks right, better than not doing it at all~

Anyway, the right brow seems kinda long, the brow should be more of a curve when you raise them up though.............

    Keep pushing!

The face looks a little like your self-portraits, I think. I could be wrong, though. I think the pecs might be a little too low. I think you should push this one a little further.

The second page of studies looks pretty nice. Again, though, slow down a little and take time to pay attention to the rhythm of the figures, 'n all that good shit.

The digi looks nice. My one complaint, though, is the screens being perfectly flat. Maybe turning them at an angle, slightly, so they're arced towards the fella' sitting in the chair.

    Good stuff.

Meissner: Yeah really wasn't feeling it that day, i have impatient patches And I'm feeling what you're saying about the screens, would have helped composition too, need to think about these things more. Thanks!

I've been feeling like crap the last few days, but I think I'm pumped again now. Need to get learning.

Then went to Miles' and cooked up this badboy. I basically need to think about contrast more, and perhaps form aswell. Also, I think the casts under the breasts bring them out way too much

Wow, nice legs studies ! You also improved in rendering ! Yeah, maybe a bit more contrast, also try to draw darkervalues for the background, your lighter values will loks more " light" ! It' funny because the character design in the post #662 looks like you, i mean your face :p also be carreful with the cast shadow, especially the one of the face, in the "light band" area, the cast shadow should be darker ! Keep working

Walid D: I know what you mean about darker backgrounds but I don't think it's a necessity. Also the form of the hair would probably have gotten lost in the darks. Thanks

Some studies It's too hot here (although probably not by other people around the world's standards) It's hard to concentrate haha.

Nice studies. Especially the last page.

Your digital photo-ref'd studies always remind me that I'm fucking terrible at them. I guess I better fix that.

Your studies are impressive, homever your overall characters are little stiff.

how to fix this? some photo reference from dynamical poses? Drawing dynamical fiqures from Hogarth is really helpfull in here, this might sound weird but looking trough alexander pachenko sketchbook for fiqures helps me a lot before drawing, might want to try that one.

Keep us posted, steady progress keep this interesting.

Nettle_Mountain: Yeah gesture should be more of a focus, but I'm too scared to leading it away from the design I've been meaning to do Hogarth stuff, when I have more time I will for sure. And yeah, alexander's art is incredible. Thanks

Nice studies mate.In everything you do try to use the linework that you use in your anatomy studies(for example in the muscle studies)
In the others it seems non confident and rushed.
Keep up studying and you are gonna do great!!!

Diggin the Bridgemen studies as well, solid work Sam!

kingkostas: Thanks but in the studies I'm just copying Bridgeman's lines, my actual lines are shit.
Matt: Haha I wish I had the same kindof lines as Miles, no chance. Thannkksss

I don't know what's up lately. We've had a huge heatwave and I guess I feel I should be out doing something instead of inside drawing. And when I do draw I feel impatient and they suck. I kindof had a spree of imagination stuff but then it all began to look the same so I need to study more. Also I ran out of HB leads and I'm only left with 2b. I can never get the light values with them that I get with HB and end up with low-contrast crap. But I guess this has happened many times before..I'll find a new way out of it.

That Hogarth study in the middle/to the bottom is pretty nice. The SP looks pretty good, too. I've never been partial to 2bs myself, but you seem to be getting the job done with 'em.

i see some good improvement here! Your lines are getting cleaner and your faces from imagination are improving as well. They still need a tad work but that just means more practise which is what your doing anyways.

So keep it up, i always like going through your stuff.

Very impressive Anatomy studies, the only thing I would like to say is that making the studies with curved lines, instead of rigid straight lines, would help you a lot.

Meissner: 2bs and I have a very love/hate relationship Cheers

    My57: Thanks man

lalovergel: Mmm yeah I will, but I'm still trying to simplify into planes and blocks at the moment I guess. I'll mix and match Cheers

So what the hell happened? It's like I've been dead for the last 4 months of something. I've been feeling really uninspired, lazy and scared of failure. So i started checking through the first pages of this SB this morning and I was shocked at how much I used to draw, Past-me somehow managed to inspire now-me. I guess I'd just lost sight of how much I still have to learn, and seeing how I used to tackle things at the start, when I knew nothing at all, has really got me excited to draw waaayy more. So I guess I'm saying I'm back

The body from imagination. I guess I'm trouble shooting for everything I do wrong, and boy there's so much. The abs and the groin are too low, my sense of form is terrible, I don't get the lower legs, he has a monster head and wings...

yeah dude ! thats the right way
dont make your mind crazy about stuff like skintones, cause you'll find out to handle that shit soon enough
keep in mind that skintones aren't just a single color like a orange-ish one, even a mix between some more reds, blues, etc. maybe you should also try to studie some nudes NUDES ARE FUN haha also perhaps try to make your forms easier to read !

DOING GREAT ! realy appricate !
    see you !

SnobbyOo: Yeah I spotted lack of reds but I still haven't figured out using cooler colours like blues. I'll definately do some nudes, it'll be exciting taking on so many different things at once eg colour, form, anatomy etc

Some boxer studies. My proportions feel like poo. Both of these the original heads were way too small before I changed them. How can I make it so the head is in proportion with the body on the first construction? I guess I'll study some Loomis tomorrow.
