Wow dude you actually got a shit load of work done. I actually really love the study you did from your brother. That looks rad. Gun also came out great. Happy to know that my needed eraser was of some use ;p.
r y a n o i r: cheers man
Metal Fingers: thanks
jordyskateboardy: haha had a great time man, can't wait to hang out again soon
Andrew Sonea: You pretty much summed up all the things I struggled with in the image Once I'd realised most of the proportions were off, I was too far into rendering to be bothered to change them. In all honesty, I was too eager to get it finished to fix all the problems. Lesson learnt, cheers for the crits, will come in very handy the next time I'm doing a final piece
viki oh: thanks for the kind words
Miles_: cheers buddy x
Some commission work I did for SnowStormComics, you can find their blog here. Original sketch done by Jeffrey Snow, and I did the painting over it. Still needs to have the title and everything put over it, but yeah, this is my bit haha
Is there a germ in the water in Fleet that mutates the drawing part of your brain? Because I need to get me some of that.
Sickass sketchbook, brah.
aw man your really well on your way! it's been a while since I looken in here missed alot
one thing tho, your stuff looks like miles painting now and then, don't focus to much on that.

Really great stuff you are pumping out man, if I could make a suggestion it would to do some more variations in hue in your faces so they don't start to look dull-ish. Like some make up etc. I'm sure you can find good reference of it on the interwebz. I'm not very skilled at faces or anything, just a thought.
Keep up the dope work, man!
Seriously good work, Sam. Every time I need an inspiration boost, this is the place to visit. Keep going!
From beginning to end, your progress and dedication is inspiring... nothing to say but keep it up in that direction!
Such a great improvement. So beautyfull! You develope into a fine artist, if you keep this up =).
wow, i watched the first and last pages and you have improved alot! Keep it up!
Great character studies. I haven't yet seen all of it but a fair chunk and I have to agree with pretty much everyone else and say you have improved a lot. Now, there is always a but, I see the brush technique you use a lot, it's a pretty common way to familiarize yourself with the digital medium but it lacks an artist signature. The thing in real painting is that it's important to always see the hand of the artist at work (and I can see a bit of that in your pencil work), and with this smooth downed work you are not learning that. I'm guessing that this is why you have quite a bit of trouble with landscapes and environments, because they don't adhere to the same technique as characters, and if they do they tend to all look the same. What I'm trying to say is that you need to find your own artist touch, your own way of representing everything in the painting spectrum - from grass to stone to characters, each painted with their own textures. Hope that helped mate.
Thanks for the comments everyone, don't have time to reply right now..will do it later

Guik: thanks a lot man
alexson: great point man, even faces without make-up should have a lot of hue variation where the blood comes closer to the surface of the skin. Will keep an eye out for that thanks
Primordial Seven: thanks
Monger: will do, cheers

So I start my 2 year art course at college tomorrow, hope it goes well and at least I'll have all of my time focused on art! No more school work! Been working quite hard recently, looking at a lot of the masters. Fallen in loved with William Bouguereau..soo goooddd
Hands, Hogarth and life
Neck studies from some book
A character I'm not so pleased with
Lip studies from various sources: Bammes, Bridgeman, photos, life
Painting forms from my head just to try out, will study life more
And a still life I did last week but forgot to show
Nice work man, the pencils are very inspiring! I like the way you have been simplifying forms and lines to get proportions more accurate, but you could start to work on getting your lines to flow and more natural gradients in your rendering to really polish it off. That said, don't loose the strong focus on structure you have, it's done wonders for your improvement
Keep it up and tell me how college goes tomorrow
Wow, it's pretty inspiring to see someone that keeps a sketchbook for 2 years +. I really love the commission piece you did for Snow Storm comics. I think you did a great job painting it. I think your use of color has really improved over time. Also great hand studies from Hogarth. Perhaps I should get one of his books too. Keep up the good work.
ryanoir: Yeah, but I just feel that chasing originality would end up being fairly fruitless. I'll just keep drawing until I get better.. Thanks
Miles_: Thanks, been trying to work on those recently
Istmin52: Not at 2 years just yet would highly recommend his books, but be sure to back up his work with life/photo stuff, because I think light and shape plays a more important part than the bones, muscles etc. Still worth learning though!
My art course at college is awesome! Some very interesting people and lots of time for drawing and I have an understanding art teacher, success.
Photo/artist studies on armour
Arms..Bammes and Bridgman
Mind and Bammes studies
Some blind studies
And this is stuff for my college, lots of natural forms in lots of different mediums
Chalk-actually very fun to draw in
sam sam sam sam you are a young monster... Your pencil is so power ı will follow you.
