    Talking The Game industry

Well my dreams is to one day be able to create my own games =) but I know that this will not happen suddenly. So the question I have is what ways are there to get into the game industry? What are the necessities to get into the art division, game development or etc.? I really don’t know how to put my questions in words but I hope someone gets the jest of what I am trying to ask. HOW can I get into the games industry is the large pedestal of the question. Thanks A LOT

It depens where exactly you want to go in game industry, do you want to work for a big studio, small studio or starting your own game developing bussines, and so on...
Also you may want to check some existing game company website, and see in the job section what they require from different positions they hire people in...
    Example:

...or check the Jobs section on CA , to see the requirements of the employers.

Some links, may be useful :

Well at one time I wanted to be a concept artist. But I see very little improvment in my art, so as of right now I am not completely sure. so I wanted people opinion. I have done some research but decided just to ask for verifactation. Im not planning to do anything that deals with math. =)

Look at the best artwork on this site, and try to be as good as it. It will take a looong time of hard drawing and study, but the payoff will be worth it. payoff meaning satisfaction and supporting yourself, not being filthy rich and fame

I'm guessing programming is what you are trying to avoid by saying "math," though I haven't tried it so I don't know how much math is actually involved. But anyways, there are jobs that you can do that require neither art nor math. I might be a bit shakey on these, but as I understand the "designers" (not to be confused with the artists) come up with the game itself, the story, the abilities of the characters, the general gist of what the gameplay should be like. There are people whose job it is to direct the whole process of making the thing, keep everyone working and on track, and push to meet deadlines. Of course there are the company bigwigs, the ones with three letter titles starting with "C" and usually ending in "O." (CFO, CEO, CCO etc)

All these jobs can be difficult to get. Granted, you can start your own company and call yourself whatever you want, but you might not get work and therefore not get paid.

I've seen want ads for designers, but to do that you have to be good at what you do. With art I would think its easier to point out what artist is more equiped for the job just by looking at the work. Just as with art there's a crowd of people who think that their ideas are wonderful; but choosing someone based on their ideas might be a bit more difficult to pinpoint who has the good ideas and who doesn't. I mean, who decided it was a good idea to have an Italian plumber fighting turtles and eating mushrooms? Or what about a yellow circle with a mouth eating while constantly chasing or being chased by ghosts?

As for the other jobs I'm not sure how you get them either. You'd probably have to research that yourself.

Thanks for linking to my thread, Agent!

Have a gander at that, mister Brown. Before you can pick a strategy for how you will get into the industry, first you must learn more about what jobs the industry is made up of. Concept art makes up about 1% of the jobs in the games industry. The three basic categories of jobs are art, game design, and programming. Game design doesn't necessarily involve any math.
I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

Flash is always a good place to start. Make a game o something, just to prove you have ideas.

You will have to spend a lot of time learning. Expect at least 4 years.
