A couple of McCain vs Obama "fact checkers":

CNN.com's summary of issues and what the candidates stand for. (Obviously simplified, so do get your info from multiple sources.)

Ah, but there's something exciting about voting on the day (if you bring a book to read...haha)! Well, and....non-swing state and all. They don't open early voting until the 27th or so......

And, if at all possible, volunteer on November 4. I am. That entire day, I'll be out collecting ballots and/or watching over a ballot box.

Volunteer to be a pollworker or even an exit-pollster. If you can.

In the meantime, know your voting rights. And here's another site that may be of interest here: http://www.stealbackyourvote.org/

I'm an American citizen, so I thought I could vote, but apparently you lose your right to vote if you don't live there for a certain length of time. Too bad, I'd have wanted to Make A Difference..

    Serpian,
If I'm not mistaken in California there is an exception for people who establish residency after the 15th day prior to an election. They are eligible to vote a special ballot for President and Vice President of the United States only. But I don't think they can vote the propositions. Anybody know if this is correct, and if that goes for other states?

I checked that when I re-registered in my new county, but no one contacted me about it. I would have loved to (does that sound sadistic? Probably). Every poll place I've been to has usually been overstaffed by seniors though, so I imagine they think they've got it covered.
