    Fox's Sketchbook

    Hey guys,

After seeing some of the amazing works here, and reading the cool and good advice i've decided to open up my own sketchbook.

I live in Belgium and Study Digital Arts and Entertainment, the second year now.
I'm not very much the art type, more allround, so i can use the advice.

    Hope you enjoy!

Moved images to my second post to edit thread image more easy in the future.

hey fox, thanks for passin by
    nice 3D youve got
what you should do is practice on your symetrie and poses, you figrure tends to fall on his back and his face isnt symmetrical, left and right should be exact copies.
    post some sketches and such!
im curious bout what stuff ull make this year and how much youll improve

    Thx for visiting Grafguy.
I'll sure try to improve on those points.

    Next:
a sketch i made from reference.

+ some things from last year:
The camera is one of my first marker drawings while learning perspective, Next there my podracer design for my first exam drawing.
Lowpoly truck for 3D, limit was round 4000 tris i think (not sure).
Then there is my mad max male character, for the next drawing exam, painted with grey values in photoshop + female for the same exam(i know she's not real good)
And my high poly super hero car, i was given the incredibles as assignment as u can see.

Then there is the modelsheet of a cartoon character i'm workin on atm.

    Everyone thx for visiting!

Lyno: hope that to, i'm planning allot of drawing this year, hope i can live up to the word.

fullmetaljacket: ya, i'll try some scanner uploads now and then, but can't garantee it.

    bigfooTrooper and maeshanne: thx!

here's my cartoon char how he should look in color, quickly done cause it's not really ment to be great art, just an id for later 3D modeling.

Thanks for popping in on my book Yours looks great, though a bit scant. Push the pencil, get some wicked studies and figures out I bet you're awesome.

The 3d stuff has a really nice feel to it.
But you gotta work on your drawing from ref, like proportions and stuff. Just look at the hand in the upper right corner in the second to last post. Ofcouse if you learn 3d in school, you dont need to care =P

    Hey.
The digicam is very well done. I don't know but it seems you use airbrushes a lot. On the faces it would be better to use a harder brush. The surface looks too smooth otherwise.
On that Knight the coloring looks better!

paran0id: thx for droppinng by, and thx for the advice for the hands, i can really use it u know :p i study digital arts and entertainment, drawing kinda important to:p

DigitallyDumbfounded: thx for visiting! i know the problem with me and brushes, it's a real pain, the knight, as u correctly saw, was done mostly with hard ones, wich is better, altough it took me double of the time. I gotta learn it tough, so i'll try to hold the hard brush longer from now on.

Both of you thx for the advice, hope you'll come back sometime .

Anyways, i've been busy with 3D(deadline tomorrow) on a model of asterix(we had to pick a comic character to practice, for then later beeing able to do the knight.
limits where 2500 tris and texture map of 256 on 256 pixels
(wich is freaking small i tell you :p) supposed to be for DS or smth i dunno.

    Cheers,

    Fox

that camera and podracer blew my mind. way cool
really good hands too. my only suggestion would be to learn more about facial structure and to study some skelatal and muscle diagrams
other than that, your stuff is great, I hope you keep it updated (:

thx for visiting man, will be doing some of the stuff suggested by everyone next week, i know the face is sometimes a problem for me. The Muscles will come also i guess.

Maybe i should try markers again also and trow a paint in, anyway i'll see next week, stil got a rig to do of that asterix dude, the old one sucked, so i have to redo it.
Really look forward to drawing some more tough :p.

    Hi!
Your characters are funny but you need to work their anatomy! The face features are a problem on most of them. Also your self portrait is coming nice, but you should try hard brushes, with no blur, cause it's too limp. It can help to work with harder brushes, and 100% opacity too!

    yo, nice updates.
ur character is very recognisable in 3d. Not a big fan of the lips though.
you should make em softer or not give him lips at all.

Hey, interesting to see works by students of other schools like our Games Academy in Berlin (which I just decided to quit because of the poor conceptart lessons )! Guess you should keep up the technical modeling your improvement in this direction is quite nice ...

yeah, these are the poses i could salvage, i really hate it when a program just bugs... nothing u can do bout it i guess
and that combined with the fact that i totally suck at rigging...
