My friend's mom does woodworking and every year she has a few of us girls over for an ornament painting party. This year I thought I'd take some photos of the ones I've finished. I tend to take a few liberties with the designs, which are all out of woodworking crafts books.

My friend's really into D&D and tabletop roleplaying so I promised that for next year I'd do up some RPG-themed Christmas ornament designs. Maybe if I say it here I'll actually do it.

Anyway, these are kinda cheesy but isn't that what Christmas is all about?

This is the back of the penguin and frog stars. I'm fond of the chicken.


The butterfly turned out reasonably well for something I was winging. (Pun intended.)


And this isn't an ornament at all, I was just struck by a need to make a weird bunny out of clay. I don't actually ever sculpt so I'm happy with how he turned out. He's loosely inspired by the bunnies from The Atrox comic.

Thanks! Unfortunately I'm heading into trying to make it as a pro and lately all I do is lie awake at night running through my inadequacies in my head. Like last night at 01:00 I was stressing about not being able to draw jungles. I think I need to improve significantly just so that I can sleep at night and not be a basket case.

I'm sure it'll all work itself out. I have a plan. It might involve more environments.

Your work is lovely and improvement clearly showing...I particularly like, of what I've seen so far (not for any particular reason other than they made me smile and were nicely done) the girl with the hole in her underoos, and the the girl with the fluffy dress and cup of soda. But I'm sure that as I look, I will find more.

Went to figure drawing this week, hopefully this weekend I'll get a chance to photograph the results. Man, it sucked. I was completely out of practice, not used to standing up at an easel with my arm up, and I had to fight every damn pose.

I think that next Wednesday I'm gonna buy a season pass to figure drawing drop-in because I clearly need more practice.

Oh, and tomorrow is Sketchcrawl 18 (http://www.sketchcrawl.com/) so I'll be out and about (or in and... uh... abin?) with my pens and pencil crayons. If anyone reads this in time, get out on the town tomorrow and sketch!

I really like your cartoony stuff. Nice work! I think one of the most noticeable problems in the figure drawings were his legs seeming too thin sometimes.
