    Many thanks for your comments!

I had a lot of work to be done lately, but finally got some time this weekend for finishing a quite old concept work i'm going to use in my portfolio. I may revisit it again and tweak some things but for now i'm just happy to move on to the next chapter. Beside the final image, i'm also posting some of the sketches and studies i did during the process.

Thanks, Clochette, I really enjoyed your sketchbook too. Sunshine feeling.
Thank you too, basementPicasso! (Great nick, I really had to laugh reading it.)

This time i'm posting a fast building concept I did for a mod-project i'm working on with some other very talented guys in my spare time. See more here, if you want to: http://www.moddb.com/mods/airborn
And some lifedrawings. 5-15 minutes each pose. Excuse the crappy quality - still didn't find a way to make good photographs of them and scanning won't work as they are quite big.

Thanks Daniel! Good to read something like that from such a gifted person like you.

Here are 3 first sketches i did for the actual CG Challenge "Steampunk - Myths and Legends".

After some time searching for interesting stories and doing research i chose "The Wonderful Wizard of OZ", because it fits best to the pictures i had in mind so far. Beside my girlfriend loves the story and i love apes. Did i ever had a choice?

The attack of the flying apes is one of my favourite scenes and i'm pretty sure i'll try to illustrate that scene. My first idea was to only show the witch with her apes in the castle, but its quite boring and i wanted to paint something bigger, something "epic". Thinking about Steampunk... I decided to relocate the whole story into a smaller universe, put it into an industrial city - inspired by London in age of the industrial revolution. The journey of Dorothy and her fellows would lead through this city, with it's districts which resemble the different chapters of the story. For example the emerald city will be a district where all the buildings have roofs made of copper, which turns into green, as we know.

looking good with the sketches from life
and the paints are good too!

love the way your art is technical. remember

    -Clodioz: Muito brigado!

-MattGamer: Of course! I never tried using flash when photographing the drawings. Stupid me... Thanks for the hint.
And you're mentioning something i really have a problem with. Being truly free when drawing... i always keep a certain respectful distance to the matter, afraid of doing something wrong. Thanks for reminding me of that!

-Gloominati: Thanks, sir! Variety in style is something i always try to cultivate, as it's very often the solution to the one missing part in a work. And also, of course, i can offer more to my clients.

-Tigermilk: Thanks! I can do nothing more than give you back the compliments. Your talent is big and your work more than promising. All the best wishes!

-cakeypigdog: Muchas gracias, i just looked through some of your t-shirt designs i definetly enjoyed the foxes!

    -southstyria: Danke! Grüße aus Wian.

-lewiston: Glad you like the floating primates. Really enjoyed drawing them... Unfortunately i had to cancel the whole Berlin Plans, mainly because of my girlfriends study, so i will stay in Vienna for at least 2 more years. I give you a call soon! Many options currently and i feel like i need an advice once again. Would be an honor to work with you!

-space-sprayer: Many thanks, happy about being able to entertain you.

    -

Today i went to a weekly lifepainting session i'm doing with some friends. I got up late and didn't have time to pack my oil stuff, so i decided to just grab my sketchbook and the gouache tools. The spontaneous change of tools was one of those happy accidents. Had great fun painting this, some things are off, but in the end i'm very happy with the result. 3 hours, with some minor breakes, painted on A4 sized sketchbook page. Oh, and this was the first page of my brand new sketchbook i filled. Theres nothing better than tits on the cover!

    Thumbs up

hey dario, man you´ve got some stuff going on here. I know your stuff for years now, still from DigitalDecoy days hehe. you´ve grown alot, speaking of technique, but your imagination has always fascinated me, there´s a theme to it...
anyways, I have a minor crit for you, in your building sketch, I have trouble with the perspective. the bar is rotated as it is, but you haven´t indicated it in the drawing.
look here, the green lines are one direction, blue is next to it, but red is the trouble. you see what I mean?
should I feel bad about spotlighting one tiny mistake on your otherwise great stuff? haha, tell me if it was of some use...
