nice rendering !!! what a nice gift to offer

the figure on the right has a cool attitude !

i got one question : those seems pencils, but your background is so clean, do you pass time cleaning them in photoshop ? or do u have some quick trick to get them quickly clean ?

    thanks B-Man will do!

Zou Thanks very much, he was pleased with it I try and keep the paper clean by resting my drawing hand on a clean scrap sheet of paper and try not to smudge as best as I can but usually only if I'm giving or selling an original. Any smudges then tend to be minor and I just give it a going over with the eraser to clean up at the end. Oh yeah this time I made sure I worked from left to right so I wasn't going over the drawing too much, that worked quite well

Today's Update: Started this steampunk superhero for the CHOW whilst visiting my folks this weekend, but I only got back tonight so didn't have time to colour her in and submit it, there's some awesome entries this week

Decided to colour her in anyway

    hello there

the last post is much nicer that the earlier one (must be honest !)

the earlier sketches have very nice design? especially the crouching one on the right and the one in the square. in those ones, your lines seems more free .

one last crit:the last one could be more rendered

    see u

Zou Sorry not sure what you mean, do you mean Barbarella is better than the Steampunk hero? You're right that Barbarella could have been better rendered.

one advice could be: don't paint the whole background (since it takes time and not interesting) but youo should suggest a bit of it and don't make it reach the sides of the canvas like they do in watercolor. But you definitely should not leave it like that ! (IMHO)

you should also add some cast shadow on the table

Hiya Zou, thanks for taking the time to crit. I should have mentioned that the background was unfinished, don't worry I wouldn't leave it like that. I'm having abit of trouble with it though (my original plan was doing a whirlwind and hurricane because they are known as Hurricane Higgins and Whirlwind White) I did think of doing it vignette style but not sure yet how to pull it off. I've whited it out now so I can start from scratch again, if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. (also going to do cast shadows at the very end when along with the final touches and highlights)

Parsakoira Thanks very much! I really enjoyed doing the Barabarella Chow, would have been interesting to see your take on it, I love your muse by the way! Re: Barbarella I prefer the original sketch I did of that pose, it is much more dynamic and cuter I think, I'm thinking of redoing it in a 70's style, like a cross between Frank Frazetta and Bode.

Sketch dump Stuff I've been doodling this past week or so and an update on Jimmy and Alex.

    hello Angel

i'm sorry i missed your update ! the exams area real pains and so distracting, anyway this last one is much better.
and the sketches from earlier post are ace, your line is fluid.

one sketch is popping out, in the fifth image the right top corner. the guy with big chin. I think that your mix between straight and curved lines made it better.i always thaught it an essential quality. so spread it in all your sketches.

    takes care

Jimmy and alex looks good, congrats on finishing it. It basically good, but i think the white shirt needs a bit more contrast and you could "scratch" the edge of the blurred vignette on the background with textures. I know, I know, that I should've told you this before it finished, but I missed your previous updates, I'm sorry . Nevertheless I hope this can be of help in your future works. Sketches are good though. I really like how you render with pencils... the contrasts are good in those and your digital render should match that (or even top that). Perhaps more realistic and less stylized studies? this current page had only that possum in this regard

Thanks zou Hope your exams go well, what are you studying? Thanks for the feedback. I like that sketch too, it's always the ones I do in about 30 seconds and don't think about that I seem to like the best

Thanks Witcrack the contrast on the shirts is more visible in print, it does look quite bleached here. Good idea about texturing the edges I will play with that next time for sure. I plan on doing more sketching in PS to get better at it, I do love pencils though.

Some more sketches I did at work to keep me sane and thumbs for the EOW (harbour of the damned)
