Liked the banana and apple watercolors pic on the last page. The blue to grey gradient that came from the lighting while photographing and a little noise actually add to the piece imo. The shadow on the banana is meh. But I guess you know that.
Anyway not much I can add, keep on practicing.

    i agree with granny.
and don't even think about calling crayons childish.
a real artist can make art out of anything.

my best friend did his senior year thesis with crayons.
they looked like oil paintings. it was true skill.

took a look trough your stuff , and so far looks good ... you have and evolution and that's good , i suggest sticking to one thing for now , like nature study or anatomy study ... doing it good and then moving forward, starting more things at once won't get any finished ... keep it up!

Sorry if i don't reply individually, but i wanna thank everyone for taking care of my sketchbook and my work ! Thanks for all your advices and nice words !

Well ramadan is over, now i can be focused on art again, well, less this week, because i'm busy with some personnal stuff !

Btw, i'm also searching a mentor who can help me with traditionnal media ! By painting and painting again, either with watercolors or acrylics, knowing color theories and apply it is far different ! So i hope someone would help me to improve my traditionnal painting skills !

So here is a quick update, i only have an acrylic painting to show ...... -_- Moooore stuff is coming !

    Bonne continuation!

DStraX : Thanks dude ! Well, traditionnal painting is really hard ! :p

    Norris : Thanks homie !

    rossipoo :I'll try

    Φ phil : Thanks !

Jaytea : thanks lil sis !

For those who thought i'm dead, well, i'm not !
For those who thought i was procrastinating, well, i wasn't !
For those who think i'm sexy, well, i am !

Here is a quick update, just to show you my epic fail with acrylics, for the selfportrait day ! I also wanna tell that i'm still seeking a mentor for traditionnal media, someone who can teach me how to mix colors to have the color i reach !

Well i didn't finish the painting, too much frustration, damn i was able to see the lighter tons, but i wasn't able to mix colors to have them !

Now i have 1 week of holidays so i'll be able to post more and to do a lot more stuff , and especially to break my lack of creativity !

    Daddy's back babiiiiiiiies !

well well, color mixing. nasty aint it. how could one work without photoshop before the computer age? well…from the top of my head, this is what you could do: try to pick the colors you want in photoshop (using the colorpicker). then try to recreate that color using the RGB sliders. ( I think the RGB sliders are as close as it gets to colormixing)
that way you can work the "ingredients" out and finally translate it into traditional media (without wasting alot of color ) or just keep trying to mix on a separate sheet. I guess trying is key

here goes my 2 cents for today, good to have you back. keep at it

You should stop waiting for a mentor and teach yourself, just keep practicing with painting from life. If you want lighter tones, mix white or a brighter colour such as yellow (or a brighter colour you've already mixed) into your colour. If you want darker, I prefer mixing a saturated low value colour such as brown or dark blue rather than black to keep saturation. Think about Hue, Saturation and Value. It's the only ways the colours can change. This may all be wrong but its worked for me so far I guess. Out of interest, how long did that unfinished portrait take you? I would have preferred to have seen you at least try at the face rather than leave it and not learn anything

SamC : Thanks dude for your comment ! I totally agree with you !

Well, I don't update often, because, well, i don't feel the need to update ... But no i need your help, ca members ! After waching the sketchbook of Cole eastburn, i'm even more determined to improved my understanding of values and light, so i'm doing some stuff from mind, and here is a sketch from mind i did this morning ( lol i know how much the perspective sucks :p ) ! So i hope you'll help me to improve my art now ! I'm also preparing a portfolio for a few art schools , and I'm looking forward to post it when it'll be done !

Yo man. I am rooting for you. You have improved so much!

    Im also studying value lately.

Ever heard of the Reilly quick sketch method? Also it helps by limited your pallette to 4 values if you find it hard to get a good value plan.

Also i read in a book that an illustration should be:

    60% gray, 30% black, 10% white

    or

    60% gray, 30% white, 10% black
    -----------

Also, if when you illustrate you keep your blacks together and your whites together it creates a good value composition.

And, your darks in your light areas should never be as dark as the lights in your dark areas, and vice versa.

Lately i have been finding it easy to plan out my drawings using a 3 value scheme and then mixing these values at various opacities to acheive value depth. Chiaroscuro helps a lot.

    BEST wishes!
