A quick question about Animation Mentor

I have read that although it doesn't matter what software you use, they teach using (and offer rigs for) Maya. I don't have the time to go through every leading 3D animation package to know the pros and cons, or how they all compare. So, what I'm wondering is, are all the applications similar enough to follow along? Or would a lot of time/troubles go toward trying to figure out how to do the assignment using something other than Maya?

Also, on the same note, should I learn the software before applying?

You'll be required to buy and use Maya. The student license is only a couple hundred dollars.

I'm pretty sure they teach from the beginning, so there is no need to learn the program before applying.

    Hi,
To answer your questions, all 3D programs are similar and Maya is the leading software in the industry so that is why we use it. We have a Maya Springboard class available that you can take before the term starts. You would only be eligible to take it if you were accepted to the program first. If you have any other questions, please visit our site at www.animationmentor.com or feel free to post them here.
    Hope this helps!
