It's awesome! And true that it seems a bit plasticky/offworldly, but I don't care at all... must... touch... the... softness!

Nice use of soft brushes, even though it kind of gives everything a bit of a plastic feel to it. Nice stuff anyways though

wow. ABSOLUTELY love your work! and you know I mean business when i type in CAPS!
love the Conanesque and just straight CONAN characters! so clean and yet so fluid! something to aspire to. Im no fan boy.... But definately a FAN MAN of your work.![]()
fucking excellent
Thanks for taking time to comment!
Its my work so im naturally biased, but I dont think thats true.
I think the last piece on the first page has a little of that going on, but certainly not all the work.
Also - what is your definition of plasticy? Is it the hard lighting on some of the forms or does it seem like some of the characters are composed of plastic?
Im asking in an inquiring spirit, by the way - not being a wiseass.
Once in a while ill get this comment but the defintiton seems to be different for each person - for some its the hard lighting, for others the lack of brush detail.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, its stuff like this that helps me improve my skills and think differently.
All the best and thanks!
Thanks for the compliment!
Weird that I get this same comment twice in a day.
Same questions as above: What is your definition of "plastic"? is it the lack of brush detail, the hard lighting, the edge management or do you percieve the characters to be composed of plastic?
In my mind plastic is hard and semi-reflective, while a sense of softness is light thats dispursed; generally soft brushes ( I assume you mean airbrush?) dont produce a plastic look.
Im asking seriously, so any feedback would be appreciated, it will only help me improve.
All the best to you
Hey thank you so very much!
I put a lot of thought into the characters, I try not to follow trends but instead try to come up with timeless characters that will endure trends and have lasting, wide appeal.
This comment really means a lot to me - thanks again!
Very best to all!
You're work is so damn awesome man. Thank you for putting up the sketches! I love seeing the process behind the finished images.![]()
plastic, in my opinion, is excess sheen in places where it isnt necessary...
the minotaur looks as if he's sweating profusely in a winter scene, but you cannot see any sweat dropping, so he just looks greased up.
Marko's stuff is shiny, but it makes sense, like on leather, or in a street scene with artificial lighting...
I like, so keep doing it, it just looks loud to me, and taking away the loudness of your work would take away from the work. Maybe you could try adding some graphic flatter elements to bring out the rendered stuff, or work with more than 1-2 figures.
I know someone said it before....but it looks like Corben!
That's not a bad thing at all though, I love Corben stuff so similar but different is also good!
Edit.
I just looked through the thread and noticed I had already said that to you! Wow, my bad. Still.... your work kicks ass.

Great respect to your hardwork and talent!
Hope you're well!

Wow, thank you so much!
You guys are my heroes over there so this really, really makes me feel like im headed in the right direction. Id love to attend that school and get my ass-kicked by coro in some classes though - theres so much I want to learn, being self-taught can get pretty old sometimes.
Very best to you and yours steak, ill be on the lookout for more of you!
This really was some quality insight and critique - I really appreciate it man!
Yep the minotaur is definately flawed, but its about 4 years old as well. Sadly its *supposed to be* a dry, arid, desert style enviornment, hee hee - shows you how well that translated huh?
I appreciate ya
Hey man. I already know you from deviantart and I have to say that you're one of my biggest inspirations. I'm always impressed by your imagination and your choice of colors. Thank you for making art![]()
Your art is stunning I very like it ! I'd like to see a work in progress of one of your images it would be very instructive...
I just do love your work some of the surfaces are so smooth its fantastic keep it up with more updates!!
You are cool,keep it real!
inspirational!
outstanding works! thanks for sharing them with us!
Wow, pretty amazing stuff man. Mad kudos.
Im not a big fan of how plastic the characters look, but I believe that has more to do with choice of style than anything else.
Would love to see more.
Amazingly clean! Im sure you have heard this a thousand times but nontheless your work is incredible, what takes a moment to look at was created through all this hard work and effort, I can feel the effort you put into them.
On another note, id like to know how you went about actually self-learning yourself to this stage? Were you naturally an artist or? Any tips and tricks for us who are doing the same (self-teaching)?
awesome~so great~
Thats fine with me Darcy! I feel blessed to have other artists interested enough in my work to comment even once, so twice is even better!
Corben is a big hero of mine for a lot of different reasons, so I really appreciate the comparison.
Im doing pretty damned good for running on a few years of sleep deprivation, no rest for the wicked.
Thanks for your praise, I appreciate it!
And thank you for the really kind compliment rush, I love to work hard on my art so it means a lot when I get to have people say they appreciate it.
Thanks for taking the time.
Im working on taking more time out to create WIP collages of works, ive been fortunate to have other artists ask about process shots, and I really appreciate the interest. Definately expect more from me in this department.
Thank you!
I plan on it =)
Oh im so not cool, im unapologetically low-brow; special effects cheeseburgers and big boobs are my fare.
But I do like to keep it real.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for taking the time to say so, it means a lot to me.
Many thanks to all, I love this place and the feedback and interest really keeps me going.
God bless,
Brad
Thanks man, im glad you dig it despite some of the stylistic decisions ive made - that definately says a lot about you. Keeping that open mind is going to serve you well in life.
Observation, practice and a willingness to abandon myself to improving.
This is all about time, all about practice and all about being teachable.
You can train yourself to see your work for what it is instead of what you think it looks like, but its not easy and doesnt happen overnight.
It also is something you have to practice on a daily basis and something you very well may not fully master.
I certainly havent but im willing to hurt and try everyday.
Before I (thankfully) became utterly swamped with contract work I did a lot of life-drawing and copying movie-stills for practice. On a low end week I draw 40 hours. On a normal week I draw 65 hours and on a crunch deadline ill work 85+ hours a week.
It boils down to being in love with this and looking for excuses to do it whenever possible instead of making excuses not to.
If you can do that and have 5% talent youll make it, I guarentee you.
But make sure you have a realistic idea of what "making it" means.
Currently im earning sub-poverty level income, but its getting better.
For me "making it" means delivering my absolute best within the timetable ive been given, reguardless of who the client is and for how much.
If I end up being worth a shit then the money will come, im not worried about that.
The art is what matters most.
I wish you all the very best in this, send me a note if you need to, it can get lonely and tough sometimes doing this when your broke, not eating a lot and socializing even less to get better.
Stay on it, you can do it.
Thanks buddy!
Very best wishes to all, God bless and thanks for taking the time to comment!
Wow.. i know i'm supposed to give a critic in this specific forum.. but i just can't.. i'm in awe & dunno what to say.. all i can say is that u have an amazing & freakish way of thinking when creating your artworks! I'm a fan ever since i saw ur works in Imagine FX.
All of your work is beautiful. The one that speaks to me is #4, Traveling through sunken ruins. I would love to write a story for that painting. I have poled a boat through swamps at night, so I guess I can relate. It is stunning work, so full of imagery. If I could paint women like that, I would just stay home all day. Great work!!!
Dude, SICK.

i posted here years ago, but forgot how insightful, inspirational and helpful you are to everyone that posts. just reading through some of your replies instills the humble hours i put into my art and reminds me it's for the joy i get of finishing a piece. not for the paycheck.
keep up the amazing work and beneficial words that come from your fingers.

Very nice! Keep up the great work! Can't believe you consider yourself a 'nooblet'.
I've seen your works in dA. Really nice works done. I also like your style and your concepts.
I was just browsing throughout the pages and came across with your "The Final Challenger".
Stunning work man!
I see some comments about your work being very "hard edged" and "over shinny" or whatever, (as if its not something technically correct or something) but that do not bother me at all, because i get the impression that is more of your visual style and its pretty impressive for hand crafted images, it looks realistic, your work is so damn cool and the anatomy in your characters are so stunning! i believe is what makes your work stand apart.

Funny i try to improve in different style , different rendering , touch many things in what i like , my tastes are changing during those explorations , my mind also, way of thinking , processes changes , one thing never changed though , i always end up in your thread , always in aw in front of your art , i think you're one big and huge reference to me , well i'm sure of it !!
When i see some of your art i know why i'm practicing, why i'm drawing and for what result , whatever it takes , this is what i want to be able to do !!
You're on big source of motivation and inspiration , keep up with your art so you can inspire more and more people !!
Cheers !!
EDIT: i've check a bit everywhere but couldn't find i you had a more .."professionnal" portfolio or commissioned works ( like the Halo one or even sketches or anything ) , i was wondering what kind of work you do everyday as i understand those are personnal pieces , so if you have somes i would be very interested in seeing them ( if possible of course )
