Cameobug : Thank you!
ThomasM : ah, thanks for the crit.Will note it for later times!
Judging from what I have seen, there has been a noticeable improvement in your artwork. However, I think you could brush up on your anatomy a bit because you can only go so far on your excellent color choices and values.

@FightingSeraph : Thanks a lot! Indeed my anatomy still needs help. (parts of it were probably manga-related) I'll try harder!
A WIP of an anatomy study of mine. I decided to make this one seriously (just so I could analyze each shape more thoroughly. And the face was totally untouched, btw. >_>;
And I feel like:
a) The limbs..they look kinda a bit too big. Or maybe it's the head.
b) The shading is more like a statue than a person; too clean and smooth. Especially the leg.
c) The lighting looks too flat. WHY D:
hmm;
showing progress of an old pic of mine. Am doing it again right now.
The artstyle is pretty animesque. Probably will keep it that way.
And I've got sucky connection atm, so probably will separate it into several posts;
first (long time ago) it was something akin to this;
and then after some time I looked at it and went OMG, so I practically redone it into...

Well. Long time no see, and happy new year 2011!
So...this is a fanart I've been working on. Makie, from Blade of the Immortal, if you read it. (..I want that charcoal skill. :|)
So this is the last time I've been working on it
Now I'm detailing the background (from above to down, I think. Doesn't make much sense...) and after watching the free TAD class put in CA, maybe it's time to try some kind of..texture.

There's a big improvement from start to here and I really like that last piece. There's not a great difference in expressions and showing different emotions. Spread your wings a bit wider.
@Black Spot : Thank you! Indeed, my expression still have a lot to improve. Thanks for noticing that
So I tried a bit of expression (...smirking. Or something), and trying some texture, while also speed drawing. I ended up distracted in the later hours, but the underpainting took about 2 hours.
I think the neck is kinda weird, but..
It's a bit high. When you turn your head like that the chin will almost me touching the shoulder. Get a mirror next to your computer and pull funny faces in it. Always lots of fun.
hey there, really enjoyin your sketchbook, a few things to help you out, do look at more art and learn about the planes of the face cos it feels that there's little dimension to the faces you draw. hope to see more improvement from you ^___^
@razen_sketch : Thanks for noticing thatIndeed I still have to learn more!
Anyway, I'm in the mood for drawing today but I dunno what I want to draw...so...this is my first time drawing environment (or at least pictures without humans). Speedpaintings, @30 mins each;

The chin looks a load better. With environments always check the perspective early on - the last one needs some.
@Black Spot : Thanks! I'll try to keep that in mind.And sorry for the late reply..

Um.
So!
Sorry for neglecting the sketch book again. Well, had about 3 weeks of not drawing...somewhat. Well I do, but just working on some of my WIPs. And that results in....my anatomy skills going kaput. OMG, the pain of not training! *scampers to Posemaniacs*
So my two attempts on anatomy; no references.
This one is a portrait sketch for a character for a group projectstill struggling for texture x_X am I using too big a brush here...?
And this one...well. I have no words.
The more you learn, the more you've got to keep in your head, so a bit of a slow down is to be expected at first. I like the figures of the young girl - the one which you have no words for.
@Black Spot : Thanks a lot! I will endeavor my best to stay on track and improve more!
So lately I've been doing some watercolor pics; for a refreshing course for drawing another pic with watercolor.
So listening to a friend, I've been looking at Stephanie Pui Mun Law's artwork. And ended up half gawking - ooh and aah-ing - clawing my eyes out- screaming in pure despair. So I kinda intend to learn more of her style.
First, I'm doing some sketch in Adobe Photoshop:
Then I start coloring...here is a step by step of my process.....
Underpainting 1, wait..it looks messy..
Layering 1....wait, oh God it is messy...
...I give up, I'll redraw this one...... which, ended up really messy, btw. :| I think I used the wrong method; wet on dry, with lots of pigment instead of layering lots of light washes. That, and wrong paper (rough. I think it doesn't fit). I think I'll redraw this one.
The end result..
It's quite sad, when I think about it. I've been trying to simplify the details so as to not hinder my work, and yet....ugh. So...mediocre.
Hey, your illustrations are lovely, especially the #73 one. I see you`re starting with environments so good luck and have a fast progress.
And last watercolour is awesome.
Take care.

@Liberty : Thank you for the good wishes; hope it also happens to you
Hmm.
Haven't been posting here for quite a long time; most of the work one are recently manual..so I'll just post a finished work (fanart) of mine.
Sun Shang Xiang (Dynasty Warriors 5 / Warriors Orochi incarnation).
A friend expressed her concern about the contrast, so I can't say; but after all I'm very satisfied with the result! This is the first time I draw something.....'moving'. >_>
And my current WIP (I've been drawing fanarts lately), this one of Nouhime from Samurai Warriors 2 (Or Warriors Orochi)
Dramatic lights and chiaroscuro. I can do this![]()
