Your work always puts a smile on my face, beautiful really...
I love the fluency evident in your head construction
man, all you americans(style) make me want to get a pad of newsprint and charcoal/chalk, but I can't find any newsprint pads in Auswtf. probably not looking hard enough. but still.
ms raileyh, i have so much love for you, your work and your generous attitude! i am truly grateful for everything i've learned from this thread and i hope you continue to post![]()
damn gorgeous work you've got here!
I suppose no matter what I'm drawing, there will always be some sort of question in my mind about it. A work of art (even cartoon art) is never really finished; it is abandoned.

jhagen22 - Thanks, there are so many ways of approaching drawing and painting. I'm always learning something new.
Theodora_romania - Thank you. I'll stop by and check out your work.
Below are a few block-ins for very basic direct painting. It seems that beginner painters want to overcomplicate and over see things in the beginning stages of painting an object. I've found that simplifying down to the most basic shapes, values, and hues then building on top of those shapes is key. If I'm approaching a painting or object in a painting that I feel is complicated I have to break it down even further. It depends on the object and my skill level. Treating a surface like a topographical map can help a beginner painter break down a surface into shapes rather than trying to mimic a surface in paint thats usually too thin. I broke down the process for my very beginner painting students. Hope this helps.

Fantastic work! Love the breakdown in the latest post.. I so have to work on that. Do you know anything about LAAFA? me and my friend are curious about that school.. I figure since you live in LA I'd ask![]()
Lovely work. If I was down in LA I'd take one of your portrait classes. I love how you simplify the values yet get a large range.
I self-published a book on the fundamentals of drawing from life.

I love your work!
Your work is incredible. I really enjoy seeing your process.
Hi
I'm drawing in my moleskin using some HB pencil so any drawing I make with a lot of shading looks like crap. I have no control on the tones

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
