damn gorgeous work you've got here!
I suppose no matter what I'm drawing, there will always be some sort of question in my mind about it. A work of art (even cartoon art) is never really finished; it is abandoned.

amazing work.... this is how i wish to approach my work... I m curently studyin at Atelier Stockholm.. I am happy that i progressed quite a bit since i started last sem.. this is my 2nd one em sad that i didnt take any pictures of my work so you can give me some good critics about what i should focus more... and i love what you said on a page here "Draw everyday" and true... i m glad i started doing that!

Good luck and hope to see more of your work!

    Basic Direct Painting

    Exon-Ion - Thank you

monsi - Thanks. It's surprising that Newsprint isn't sold overseas. I've seen a number of people on CA asking for it.

    AnneBallaran - Thank you! (:

Asterisks - Thank you for the kind words

    R.J.O - Thanks!

vikramranu - It all starts with nature. Drawing from life is where it's at.

jhagen22 - Thanks, there are so many ways of approaching drawing and painting. I'm always learning something new.

Theodora_romania - Thank you. I'll stop by and check out your work.

Below are a few block-ins for very basic direct painting. It seems that beginner painters want to overcomplicate and over see things in the beginning stages of painting an object. I've found that simplifying down to the most basic shapes, values, and hues then building on top of those shapes is key. If I'm approaching a painting or object in a painting that I feel is complicated I have to break it down even further. It depends on the object and my skill level. Treating a surface like a topographical map can help a beginner painter break down a surface into shapes rather than trying to mimic a surface in paint thats usually too thin. I broke down the process for my very beginner painting students. Hope this helps.

Lovely work. If I was down in LA I'd take one of your portrait classes. I love how you simplify the values yet get a large range.

    Hi

I'm drawing in my moleskin using some HB pencil so any drawing I make with a lot of shading looks like crap. I have no control on the tones

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

    La-Fairy - Thank you!

Mangix - Thanks, I'm always trying to find a better more efficient way.

Phil_Osirus - Graphite is much more controllable than charcoal - for the most part. I work similarly with both.

    Sprogis7 - Thank you!

Rhoades - Thanks, you're making great progress in your sketchbook.

    Cameronator - Thank you
