    Arnes Sketchbook "2nd oil painting"

    I finally decided to start a sketchbook
    I think this will be a great opportunity for me to improve my art skills.
    Inspired by all the creativity around here I definitly will spend more time with art studies. The last 2 years I tried nearly every kind of digital art and still today I don´t know wich one is my favourite, so I will keep on searching.

    Here are some artworks I painted, modeled, rendered, whatever...
    I hope you like it.

    Some head studies I did this month, they´re copies from the "famous artist painting course" I found in my bookshelf^^
    Some of them are really crappy but I just began to learn, so I think that´s ok .

    Drawings and paintings from today will follow later this day...

    hi there, the landscape paintings are beautiful and it's cool that you try all kinds of potraits. Keep on doing this stuff!
    Only crit is that sometimes your heads lean a bit to the right upper side (obvious on page 2 on the right guy's head and the baby head).

    Edit: you update while I comment:
    Danke für den Mann :3.
    Is der ganze leere Raum da auf der linken Seite so gewollt?
    I just took a break to post this.
    But sometimes I also draw stuff

    Thank you for your kind comment...
    I absolutely agree to your critics, I see those distortions by myself.
    I will do better the next time.

    Nein, der leere Platz ist nicht wirklich gewollt... hatte nur irgendwie noch das 3:2 Format in Photoshop drin, hätte man auch croppen können.
    Für die Komposition ist es zumindestens nicht gut^^

    Maybe I will draw some more heads tomorrow

    Hey thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. I see what you mean with a harder brush, and no I am definitely not trying to do the blurry look. I think experimenting a bit and not trapped to a small selection that I have been working, and maybe trying to experiment with patience wouldn't hurt either.
    Looking at your stuff here, I can see you have an idea how the anatomy works. Really good work going here. You have inspired me to try working some vehicle designs btw. I will post more soon.

    Thanks everyone!

    @aliciad33:
    Thank you, I used a harder brush this time and like it better than the soft ones, but I´m still experimenting with brushes.
    About your trip to germany it depends what you are aiming for.
    For culture and lifestyle you should consider Berlin, Hamburg and Munich.
    If you are looking for nature and beautiful landscapes you should choose the far south (mountain wise) or the far north, like Rügen (beautiful coast and beaches). Hope you like it here.

    @Dravloc25:
    Thanks for visiting my sketchbook. I think it´s good to try different styles (brushes) I also should experiment more. I will watch your progress in future and leave some comments if it is welcome.

    @Tugelbend:
    Thank you for commenting! Sure I will stay tuned, and post my stuff.

    @kuroart:
    Thanks for your praise. I will keep on studing anatomy... it annoys me too.

    Well here is today´s update:
    Some gesture studies from posemaniacs 30sec thing.
    Somewhat crappy I think... It was really hard for me to get stuff right in such a short period. I will do that more often I think.

    And also a small environment from imagination...

    Those gestures are incredible for 30 secs! Your digital stuff is very strong, both the figures and the enviros. I would add more rocks and stones to the enviro you just did and use some slightly different hues on them. The contrast of the orange/red and the blues are nice, but a little more variation could add realism without stealing focus.

    Great stuff so far, in quality and quantity!

    Hi there
    Thanks for commenting!

    @Oranje Joe:
    This canyon picture is a speedpaint... I will paint a real environment next days.
    There will be more soon

    @muzzoid:
    I hope so too
    I´m interested in how it will be after 10-20 pages^^

    @Man Made God
    I have to admit the last 8 ones are not drawn in 30sec.^^
    Thanks for your tip about the color variations, I will consider this the next time.

    Update:
    Some gestures from posemaniac again, today.
    I used the pencil this time, I feel much more comfortable with it, when it comes to draw quick sketches.

    The jungle environment looks pretty good.
    Maybe you'll try to work less with photos and more from imgination plus photos as references. Especially the first drawings you posted are a little bit lifeless.
    But keep on going

    These are good, but I'd honestly like to see something of your own creation, a summation of your learning. These all seem to be copies. That's all well and good, but it would be nice to see actual life drawings.

    The problem with copying from photos is that you are making yourself look too much at the photo; you become a slave to it. I can see that-- some of the drawings are stiff, very strict.

    Firstly, use large, sweeping strokes to break you out of the slavish mindset. Then, take a look around you and draw what you see, not photographs. Have a friend pose for you or something. There a lot of threads here that can help you w/ that.
    Check out my sketchbook? updated 02.01

    Thanks everyone!

    @Felida:
    I know what you mean, I will do more stuff from imagination in future.

    @xobgob:
    Thank you very much, and no, I´m absolutely no pro!^^

    @Psypomp:
    Wow, thank you for this really useful advice!
    I know it´s bad to practice always with photos, but it´s really comfortable.
    I will buy a sketchbook soon and will study from life a lot.
    Hopefully this will add some more dynamic to my stuff.

    @Doudou:
    I know my pencil work is bad.
    I always scribble those lines, because I´m not confident enough at it.
    If you can give me some advice how to improve my line work, I would be really happy.

    Well, here it is: today´s update!

    Just another environment from imagination.
    No references used at all.

    I really would like to know what the name of this book is, I had it when I was in art school for a short time, but sold it back because I needed money to live on.. If you could let me know I would be very appreciative. It was a very knowledgeable book and I wish I never gave it up!
    Thanks!

    Hello, I´m back!
    I really feel miserable, I spent a whole week without drawing...

    @sourgasm:
    Thank you for visiting my sketchbook.
    I will keep on sketching and painting!

    @demonix:
    Sorry, but I can´t help you... the title is "famous artist painting course"but there is nothing more I know about it. I got it from my great-grandfather, but never talked with him about it (I was really young when he died).

    Small update:
    This is a painting I started a few months ago and finished it today.
    It´s a imaginary piece like you can see

    At the moment I am working on a bigger piece of art, stay tuned.
