Newbie sketchbook! Need help if possible for advice. XD

Hi guys!

I've been on this site for the longest and I've seen a very diverse style of artwork from a lot of great artist here (I'm very envious of everyone here because of the talent and the advice/criticism everyone puts out here to help everyone ^,^;. But anyways, I was hoping I can get some advice for a college student trying to become an illustration major. I don't really have talent in this field, however I was always interested in drawing and being able to create something out of it. I was wondering if you guys can point me in the right direction and tell me what i can do to become a concept artist? Where can start and what should I do to begin with? ^,^:;

But to give you guys some example of my studies, (I haven't really done much since I'm busy with the Army and what....) this is what I've been studying about lately. Just the eyes and the torso. Sorry if my picture isn't clear...my scanner is really old...seriously... XD

Keep drawing and posting. I keep hearing that practice, practice, practice is the way to get better.

A good start is to study up on some of the Andrew Loomis books

Studies are a good way to go if you're just beginning. I'd say pick the anatomical feature you have the most difficulty with (for most people, it's hands and feet) and spend a week doing studies of that. It's all about learning the basics at this point.

Aha thanks Senira! I'll do my best for the anatomical feature. Thanks for the advice of studying on a part for a week. I'll do that also! [Or at least use every time possible that I can get to do that XD]
