You really progressed a lot in that time, I think that's what counts and you should be proud of that. There is always someone better ofcourse.

The first is my embarrassingly bad self portrait from my junior year in high school. The other is a portrait of a cute girl I made a few months ago. I still got a while to go but looking at this now I definitely think I improved a lot, which is due in no small part to the helpful advice I've gotten from the critique center

Thought i'd redo one of the first pictures i've ever posted online, back in 2001.
Still a work in progress, but i've only spent a tenth of the time the original took back when.

If anything i've at least gotten faster since then.

First one's from 2003, had to dreg this from the pits of Elfwood. Second one's from 2006, it took me a year to start up a sketchbook. And the last one's aroun one or two months old, and it should be the last time i've tried to revamp this idea. It's very uplifting to see that with a little goodwill you can get better, it makes the journey ahead a little less arduous.

Great idea this thread the improvements in these posts are unbelievable .

I am one of those people that never thinks i am improveing always finding fault with every pic i do.
But even i have to admit there is improvement here.

I love these threads.

First picture is a personal favorite of mine and never fails to remind me why I love this site so much. The top self portrait was drawn when I was 16, the one beneath it was completed a year after I found CA when I was 18.

Now that I am coming up to my third year on CA the picture beneath that is one I am close to losing my patience with currently.

The next is one of my first ever pure imagination sketches I up-loaded and the last is an imagination sketch I completed a couple of months ago.
