    More bolder, more better!

(Deep sucking noise) I feel you need to doooooooo, ninnangiaingag more better

Like p-boi said Dawson was always talking about carving the shape and using brush to aid in defining form "gosh you know...there's just something just so satisfying about the way the brush defines the form," be BOLD and attack that shit...hell you might even try just going in with a pallete knife technique. That will FORCE you to be more bold with your painting.

btw the man/women in post #247 looks like me...wtf

I'll probably upload a hurricane of my crap during thanksgiving break.

I see you've been doing a lot of speedies lately. They certainly help but they're also limiting; they do not show what you are capable of achieving. Take some more time to complete a piece. Draw slower, more careful. Really "think" about what it is you want show/portray/accomplish with what it is that you are doing.

Some of the characters you started on the previous page are, in my eyes, totally in complete. They look promising and, in my opinion, ought to be completed. Finish those and then put them in your portfolio.

Great volume in some of those hands. The shapes look very full. Crit: you either draw some really light lines in most of these, or your camera/sanner isn't picking them up well. Try to fix that! Heh.

These are all from a about three weeks back, the last is an oil self portrait I spent about three hours on so far. I'll be sure to give replies and visit your sketchbooks the next time I post. It wont be long, I'm about to go on break from school, so there will be lots of stuff coming this way. keep watching.

hey, you're (almost) back! welcome again! looks like the hiatus (from posting) has done you good! the faces have much more volume now and your strokes look more confident, too! and i'm astonished that the traditional and digital look equally good! any particular exercises you used which you can recommend? only nitpick i can think of is that you used too much pure black in the b&w one - perhaps try to use some more subtle shades of dark grey, pure black tends to flatten pictures.
    keep 'em comming!

good stuff with the new updates yo. You came to the dark side of grids! Oil SP coming along nicely. Although that stripe on the left bothers me. I don't know if it's a cast shadow or not. You might wanna change it so it wraps around the form more.

Hey, sorry I dropped off this last week. Good to see you're working on the digital stuff. I like the photo study, but the coloring on her upper right arm (our left) causes part of it to get lost. I love the gesture of it. What are you going to do with that last piece? Maybe it needs a purpose, narrative behind it.

Fang- Thx, I've never done a grid before and thought I should try it out for once. The shadow is weird and someday I'll get around to fixing it.
Kat- Thx, too much black indeed. I've been doing master studies in photoshop. Sargent and Zorn are good to copy because you can tell how they used their brushstrokes. So all you need to do is imitate that and it gets stuck in head so you normally start doing it on your own.
eminkey- Thx. My scanner is a piece of shit, buts its all I've got at the moment. I do also use too light of a pencil when sketching. Sorry, I'll remember to darken those up more from now on.
Peetaer- Thx. I really like those characters as well, I was actually going to paint them in photoshop or painter. Thx for the push, I really need to spend more time on all of these.
mentler- Thx you for the bones Sir!
darkchild- Thx, that was probably my least favorite because I copped out on the finishing work. I should spent more time on it.
    bharat- Thx
Fry- Thx for the links, and you can have more when you've done all of your chores for today! hehe
Lilnebs- Wow, thank you for the enthusiasm! More to come, break is this week, so I'll be sure to have lots of good stuff once I post again.
Primordial Seven- Thank you, I'll be sure to throw in some varying colors.
Asatira- No problem, I've taken off a while as well. So no biggie. I agree, it needs a narrative.
I'll be posting more often now, since break is coming in. I'm going to study my ass off! Later guys!

Hey man, I was digging through some other threads and I saw somewhere you'd provided a link to Kevin Chen's amazing site. Without you, I dunno if I would have ever seen that stuff.

Looking through your SB here, it is evident that you are improving with ever new post and - most importantly - it really looks like you are having fun. Keep up the great work and I'll be popping in to check on things again real soon!
