Hi guys, what can i do with the background. Does this background makes the piece better or worse?

I'd say the background is throwing the image a little off kilter. Is it a manipulated photo? The lighting effects on the character and the background don't match up perfectly so it looks sort of out of place.

I hope you don't mind a bit of critique on the character as well, but the textured on his skin isn't integrated as well as it could be. In some places it tends to flatten, such as on the muscles on his left arm and (especially) the forehead. Maybe try to liven it up a bit by adding some more dynamic colour choices - rely less on pure black and pure white to define shadows and highlights, respectively.
