    Creature Concept - undead

    Hi there,

I've been watching theese forums for quite some time. And I thought it would be about time to come here for some real help so this is my first post here.

This creature was designed after I got an idea from a few small sketches. I want to improve every aspect possible in my work so any help is apreciated! I'm happy with every advice you guys can give me, so rip it apart .

PS. There was an old paper background texture in it, but I removed it so all the focus goes to the creature, and ignore the floor shadow.

This is cool. I would clean up the lines and start pushing values. Right now his shoulder frill is almost the same tone as his skin and shoulder hair pad things. Lighten up the frill and/or darken the hair and skin. I would also resketch his left hand. His fingers look like someone took them and broke them.

Look at anatomy for intestines and all that nasty stuff. If there's a hole in you or a zombie, the inards would be way darker and slimey looking. Remember, it's a hole in the body so hardly any light will get there (at the angle you have at least).

Check arm anatomy too because the muscles look funny on both arms.

AND...the pic has no light source at all. Change that pronto!
    Keep it up!

Thank you for you comments, I'm going to work on it (maybe not in this piece tho). My anatomy isn't the best as you can see. I'm working on that every day. His left hand is supposed to look broken like that, maybe some detail is missing to tell that is supposed to be that way.

But I don't know what you meen by shoulder frill. I'm not from an english speaking country so could you tell me what the heck a sholder frill is?

He's scary! I like what you have going on. All I can say is that it would help to establish how his weight is distributed in giving that real feel of the "shambling undead". His weight has to counter itself for his to stay upright, so if that leg can't have weight on it, then his torso will compensate by leaning the other way. Also, a bit of a forward lean gives things more intent (to harm) and adds menace.

I think this is great. Just play it up and act the character out on paper for a really striking illustration.
