great stuff over all as always, bit of advice on that walter white stuff, likeness is something that comes from lots of bits and pieces of unique stuff we all differ from, really look out for these and they are the ones that will help you make a drawing look like someone, also always relate a feature to another one its a great way to double or triple check proportions and general feeling of the face, it takes time and practice but you will get there, just keep at it, i love the variety, throw more life drawings in the mix keep working hard!

The weekly life drawing stuff starts in a week or two, so expect to see some soon!

Also planned on taking a CGMA course, too...If anything's available right now. Seems I waited too long. Hopefully I can get a spot.

Tried to paint from a photo for an hour each to pass the time.

No clue what the hell I was doing, but I think I was getting better on the second one.

On the topic of CGMA, I was GONNA sign up for Digital Painting with Derek Kosol, but I waited too damn long and missed out. Guess I'll do it next time.

Instead I'm taking Fundamentals of Character Design with David Colman, which was nowhere in my plan, but I'm sure I'll learn something.

If there's one thing I've always thought has given me trouble, it's strong gestures. And it's REALLY hard to do them with Calloway, in particular, and alot of it comes from his current design, which I love too much. The biggest problem with Calloway is the fact that his arms rarely come from any discernible location. They more or less come from his head!

Before his head became half of his entire body, he was actually easier to pose. His current proportions just evolved over time into something I find cuter, and fits the character better. But man is it tricky giving him dynamic poses when his huge ears cover his arms. I still love drawing him this way, but it's a real pain to do actiony poses with, which I need to seriously work on, anyway!

Composition and thumbnailing's another one. I thumbnail, but I always have trouble thinking of different things past the first idea.

...I'm pretty sure all those goons are standing in holes in the ground.

I think you have animated poses. If the body is just a big head basically, you can still indict a lot of motion with ears or hair as the extension of the gesture. If pokemon can make action poses with their small critters, so can you
Make a sketchbook happy, feed it a tip to improve!

I haven't used microns in a long time. They're nicer than ballpoint pens, but I'm pretty sure I only say that because I bought a big pack of ballpoints with grips. I hate grips on drawing utensils, but they were cheap and they were Bic.

    Oh! forgot to post this.

A bunch of ripoffs pose studies from Part 2 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, because if there's a comic to learn flamboyant poses, look no further than Jojo. Volumes and pages are noted.

From looking at my favorite poses from Part 2, it turns out Araki repeats the same line of action, but applies it differently each time. The arms play a large part in how the pose reads, as well.

I admire the gesture drawings, how long have you studied body gesturing cause it looks very natural. Im trying to achieve the same results.

Since 2008, I guess, considering I had no clue what gesture even was until the summer of that year. Just go back to page one of the thread to see how that went.

oh man Super tasty updates lately from you, specially when you dive into perspective like that arm chick, if you could grant me a wish i would only ask you to study Asses in the same manner hahaha, its a very interesting area of the body that i think not many people take alot of atention to and i see that arm knowledge really did sink in as it shows even in your gestures hahaha its funny, keep it up man you are doing awesome!

2 weeks into that CGMA course and I keep misunderstanding the weekly assignments. Ooh boy.

If you notice, I'm now trying to post more often. I could go for daily, if I really wanted to.

    Your animation-related drawing are fantastic!

keep plowing away at those realistic studies too, they will really give your cartoons the edge even though I think those look quite lovely already.

Today was one of the most interesting days I've had in a LONG time.

PHOTOBUCKET, WHY DO YOU SUCK SO BAD NOW!? What the hell is this?!

    ( Click to show/hide )

I can't expect to upload these images and let them stay at the intended size, which you've been doing perfectly fine for the last 8 YEARS? I've had a Photobucket account since 2005, and suddenly this new beta messes up the ONE thing that now makes it completely useless! At least all of the stuff I've uploaded earlier stays as it was.

I think I've finally found a digital combination that's quick to make, and still looks good with a hint of looseness.

What do a loud ignorant newsboy who's too friendly for his own good, an easygoing sadist with a heart of gold, an excuse-prone anti-social cynic with a cowardly streak, an unlucky unassuming loser, a conceited self-righteous brat with a strong sense of justice, and an aloof enigma have in common?

    ...I'm not sure.
