Kung-Fu STAR comic book sketchbook: Coming in 2009! Gratuitous everything inside!

This project has been percolating for quite some time. First as a movie idea and now as a comic book (and perhaps then later on as a film adapted from the comic book). The story is inspired by real life martial artist Vincent Lyn, who lived like a king in Hong Kong for a number of years, banging countless chicks and playing the villain in over two dozen martial arts films, nearly having his head cracked open in the process.

He's fought Jackie Chan, Simon Yam, Donnie Yen and Cynthia Rothrock. On film, of course.

And now he's going to fight some comic book thugs and Trian Lords and get laid in between each fight.

Young Charlotte based artist Chase Conley (known as 'SaintChase' here) is illustrating this five issue limited series and as we develop the project I am going to post design sketches and then inked pages and then finally colored and lettered.

This is going to be a fun, intense, insane book. That I can promise you.

Early design work, with Vincent a bit too beefy and muscular in the first shirtless sketch. The others he looks just right. Lean and fast is what we want. Not muscle bound and slow.

There is more in post #4. Yes, there will be gratuitous sex and violence posted at some point.

I have some GREAT stuff coming soon. This baby is turning out to be a real blast for Chase and I. His work is astonishing.

Here is Rose, Vincent's leading lady. Banging her will turn out to be the worst move he has ever made because ti brings down a huge shitstorm.

Chase experimented with different bust and caboose sizes, but I am going to have him give her a more asian body vs the absurd DD sized gals you normally see in comic books.

Oh, uh, Chase has a tendancy to write some, uh, un PC dialogue for characters in his sketches.

kidult - Yeah, Chase has a tendancy to make the girl's heads a tiny bit too big. I'll get on him about that.

D@niel - Chase is very good at hands and women's hair. You should see some of his super detailed pencil sketches of chix with long hair. Awesome stuff.

Those are some very good character shots. I especially like the color ones at the top. He's got a great grasp on anatomy and nice dynamic shots. Try to get the artist to stop by here as well!

Actually, the main villain is a fat Triad boss.
