thanks
yeah, i agree, but as purb36 below says, the third one has got more subtle emotions, CHOW's always a good exercise for me, cos i try to capture the character's emotion too. will definitely do more sketches of it, thou i wont have any finished work to post in the final thread, the exercise and c&c itself is rewarding enough.
thanks, long way to go. sketching in pencil (mechanical) also means i get to use the eraser a lot more hahaha. for the third chow125 sketch, i did at least 5 heads (some were proportion issue, had too big a head) and hands with the help of the eraser before stopping, otherwise would have go on, but will explore other pose and gesture later to try and convey other moods and emotions. cheers

am now focusing on sorting out the basic... traditionally or digi is just the medium... for now
you're doing plenty of environment studies!!!... which i hope i get to start... one day...in the future.....
CHOW 125 sketches, wanted a more mature response from the character, his contentment, looking at the village that was told will benefit from his death, thinking: at least his death will amount to something of a greater good... with that. maybe the brief's ceiling age of 10 for this kid.... anatomy is off, especially the shortened legs....was originally sketch mirror, flip it to check for anatomy anomalies... found plenty... will probably try to digipaint it when i get my tablet... one day... in the not so distance future
(edit 1: hmm... looks like hobbit feet...)

nice quality (and quantity) of sketcheslooks like you work fast with your pen and improvize along the way.
I notice there is a difference between your muscular studies and otherwise pretty free hand character/etc-kind of sketches. Partly it looks like you focus more on the silhouette and details when you draw your freehand sketches. When working on figure studies it looks like you pay more attention to the form and structure of all the parts in an arm, leg etc.
What if you cared more of these forms while doing the freehand sketches? Silhouettes are ofcourse important to make the figure interesting, butmaybe the result would get even more lifelike and solid? I could be completely wrong though..
keep it going
Great hand study, i need to do some of that, the hand is hard to learn
yeah, hopefully get to know its anatomy better and hopefully better understand to make use of their expressivenessits difficult but i've got to start somewhere, you've got 19years head start on me
thanks for pointing it out, i hope that's the idea, by doing Bridgeman's exaggerated muscles etc, hopefully the form will informed the silhouettes & vice versa, more as i get to know more about their functionscheers and looking forward to your short film!

Wah! Nice! I really idg the faces of the women in the above post. Beautiful.
Some of the poses seem a tiny little bit stiff but with some gesture drawing that should get better quickly. See you in CHOW?![]()
great to see you back.

hey man, you've got some really good things going here. I can see that your pencils are improving like crazy, well done indeed, much cleaner and fluent than page 1.
It feels to me like you are redrawing your lines over and over, still making the lines a little scribbly. The faces are beautiful though and you have some very strong poses with a lot of movement so you have a lot going for you here.
Keep sharing and show more.
Cheers

Come, critique our art and help us grow!
cheers, CHOW entries always make me think about a character pose, gesture, stands etc. which is fun... a bit too much fun that i'm not practicing enough of my basics!!! hahahaha
hehe sure! settling down in a new city, hope it wont be an excuse hahaha
thanks, will keep an eye on those lines, still cant pin point the exact problem or problems, maybe it will improve with more practices!... i hope!!!
Stilgar CHOW 131
finally a painted piece...
sketches for Alia, CHOW 132
with less than 10 hours before threat close, not feeling 100%, doubtful will finish...

Love your work. You'd think all your work would be terribly messy, but its not. I find that incredible. Hehe and no sketchbook is complete without bridgman/sheppard sketches!
two continuous poster coloured piece, which expose a lot of weaknesses that wasnt so apparent with line works or sketches. have looked up a few threats in the site on tutorial which hopefully will help address my poor form making and achieve better overall and detail values...
got the time wrong, didnt realize i've got another 4 hours to complete the thing, but have put the time to good use.... sleep!
wanna test out if concept of an equally imposing character next to each other, Alia in front of stilgar, and hopefully alia's "presence" should over shadow stilgar a bit.... the crysknife scale was a bit off, still too large even by adult standard... but maybe st. alia has good a long one from shai hulud's mouth....
just general questions, to the mods too, how do one attach images that i've attached elsewhere in the forum? i've tried copying their URL link but it always show as a link, even when i've used the attached image tab. just wanna save on resources, plus every time uplaod an image, need to fill out the creation date? can i do without them? .... cheers
really like my dune characters, so decided to do further touch up to alia's face... stilgar might get a "face lift" too... if i've got the time, its going to be another busy month with new jobs and old assignments to complete...
with zoom level of 200 and 300, i guess even a mouse can do the detailing job of a tablet....

Wow. Nice stuff. Thanks for the crit on my sketchbook. . you were right on.
The only suggestion I'd have here is I'd love it if your figures had a little more flow to them. . . . I'd maybe just draw pages & pages of opposing alternating curves so they're part of your hand.
