Bartovan: Thanks! Yes, I know Loomis! But it's been a while since I've read his books... definitely should do that again!

hedwordup: Thank you! "As a profession"? - No, that hasn't really happened yet but I'd love to do this as a profession!

Now, trying different rendering approaches and and PS brushes.

    Double post again?! why...?!

First two pictures: trying to design and render vehicles in a sketchy way.
3rd: Careful! Nudity! From imagination (obviously).
4th: Helping out some friends with a fishy illustraion.

    Just painting without a plan...
All PS, no refs (which could have saved some time - and would have led to a better result i guess).

So far, I love your mechanical designs and that gouache painting* as well. However, keep working on your figures and anatomy.
*I heard that Gouache painting is hard, is this true?

Your vehicle sketches are really good - really strong shapes and lines. They remind me of syd mead which is about the highest praise possible (in my opinion)!

.:WoLf:.: I am glad you like the marker shading. I am not really a copic-pro either though

Lightpunk: Syd Mead?! Now, that's too much. But thanks anyway

FightingSeraph: Yes yes, figure and anatomy, I get it... I consider painting in general rather hard - which doesn't prevent us from trying anyway, right?. So I am not sure about how to answer your question conserning gouache. Could we agree on saying it's challenging?

Past weeks it had to be quick. So there you go. All PS, storyboard pencil.

    miycko and polydrawer: Tank you!

aiRaGe: Thanks! Self-taught or not: Well, yes and no. I have a BA degree in industrial design and I am study in a design master program now - that would be the yes part - and no because you are not taught that much painting and drawing in that field (depends on the school I guess).

Sooou, tried some thing different last week: working with textures and stuff! Again something that needs more practice...

    It's been a month?! Hum...

    chr!z: Thank you!

KingElvis: Tanks. I have to admit that I am often torn between all the different things that I consider interesting. Since we only have a certain number of hours a day to our own disposal it's often really difficult to decide what to focus - studying anatomy steals time form concepting, concepting steals time from analyzing design, which steals time from team-working, which again steals time from researching and so on... All things that are dear to me.
My only hope is that all these interests ad to each other one day (more than they're stealing but I guess the down side is that progress in each individual field is just slower compared to when focused on a single field.
Yes, I have studied industrial design and currently continue my studies in a design masters program with its main focus on interdisciplinary design.

    dessinateurimpulsif: Thank you!

    So what've got here:
An environment with just about to much of everything... totally out of control (in a non-cool way). PS
An icy environment with a strange lighting situation. PS
And a couple of quick car sketches (pencil) colored in different ways in PS.

You have fantastic designs and I can tell that your improving steadily. Your two latest posts seem to be improving on your intensity and contrast. I notice that in a lot of images your either have great color intensity, or great contrast, but not very often both.

An example being post 39 where the first two images have wonderful color but never get very dark. The bottom image, on the other hand, has great contrast, but ever with the color lights, the color never becomes intense. you've really got this down in the first image in post 53! It looks great. Maybe you should experiment with some different patterns for creating foliage? Here's an example I like of just filling in the major areas of tone without going into much detail http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs29/i/20...fe_by_Liol.jpg and a photo example of the same thing http://www.freefoto.com/images/15/19...erland_web.jpg
Once again, I love that image.

Also, I think you really need to work on your faces. They usually have no expression and are often off in small ways that could be fixed with a little practice. What I suggest is to carry a small sketch book with you and when you are sitting around people (Eating, on the bus, waiting for class to start, ect.) Just try drawing a few portraits, or even just features. It's a good way to practice without taking time again from your work drawing. If there is a figure in a drawing the face is usually the first place the eye travels so you need to put a lot of attention into them. Also these are some artists who handle expressions really well
    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=177915
    http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs45/f/20...507c3aede3.jpg
    http://makani.deviantart.com/
Or you could do a Sargent study or two. He handles expressions very subtly and beautifully.

I wish I could design vehicles and environments like you can.

I hope my ramble was at least a little bit helpful and I hope you post more soon. Keep drawing and keep fighting, I really think you have the "potential to do this as a profession". -Thumbs up-

MoKhi: Thank you for your elaborate comment! I agree with you on the color saturation and brightness thing. Got to pay attention to that...
Also the foliage is pretty messed up in post 53. But as I mentioned in that post, I am not too happy with that picture over all
You see, I am still a bit shy about drawing in public... not really comfortable with that... but you're right, should give it another try.

    DenaeW: Thank you

    Capital G: Thanks!

It's been a lazy while, so here we go:
Sketchbook pages of fine-liner interiors (first "room" inspired by a Syd Mead drawing from Oblagon) followed by some figure quickies in pencil and my first attempt on space porn and some army's retreat (both PS).
