Thank you so much. I don't actually use pencils for the comic pages but, rather, pen and ink. More specifically, I use Hunt-102 and Hunt-108 knibs along with Strathmore Permanent Waterproof India Ink. I just prefer the charms of old traditional tools like the knib over new advancements like the Wacom tablet.

Here's a sizable update of pages from Issue 3 of "Opey the Warhead". I wonder if they have Dr. Phil's for living nuclear warheads.

I hope you all enjoy. Thank you for your time and comments.

I've already read the rest of issue 4, I'm liking how this is developing. The writing is witty and has a truckload of quirkiness to boot and the illustrations are reminiscent of the greats of comics, from Robert Crumb to Goseki Kojima.

People buy Marvel everyday. Hard to believe with the kind of drivel they produce that doesn't have a 1/15th of the heart that this possesses.

"Everything must serve the idea. The means used to convey the idea should be the simplest and clear. Just what is required. No extra images. To me this is a universal principle of art. Saying as much as possible with a minimum of means."

Richard, I'm humbled by your comparisons to Crumb and Kojima. And thanks for all the kind words.

Opey's just a labor of love for me. I just can't seem to quit on it.

I do lay out the pages before I ink them. Out of curiosity, why do you ask? Does it look like I didn't layout the panels?

Oh, I definitely see. Sorry about the confusion. These are all inked pages but I do draw some preliminary layouts using pencils.

Hey Zac! You should put out a print edition of Opey (if you haven't already)! I hate reading long-form comix on the interwebs. There you have it, I'm a hypocrite.

It does exist in print in a self-published format, although I'm tweaking a few small details on the Opey Collection. It should be available for purchase soon.

    Unbelievable art you produce there.

Sorry I haven't commented in a while. I kind of lost the whole month of July there to bloody real life. Issue 4 is great. I love Opey's dream sequence at the start - it was so lyrical, well paced. Great stuff! Keep up the updates and let us know when a print copy can be bought!

I'm grateful for you guys reading Opey. The comic is a real work of love for me. I've always loved telling stories and Opey's been a comic that's been sitting in my head for quite some time.

Hey! It looks like I forgot to subscribe to this thread. :3 Of course I do read it first on dA, it's still nice to see it here too. And it reads easier because of the layout.
