Oooh, Your pencils are just so stunning, they never cease to amaze me!
Wish I could critique your work to return the favor but I don't quite feel I know enough to do that just yet.
Keep up the great work.
I love these peeps.
nice concept dude, studying masters will help you a lot with understanding stuff like emphasis and color saturation and color weight, Craig Mullins would be a good place to start, hes paintings are flawless. I would actually recommend Janachi's paintings she has studied the old masters and she definitely mastered all the fundamentals, don't be afraid to copy and study other artists its a great way to learn.

Hey there! Great progress so far, i would say build up your contrast a little...I was reading this one tutorial saraa posted on my sketchbook...and there is a section in it that talks about working in the darker value ranges...i think you would find it useful too...http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=148355

Hey, nice to see your progress here )
You asked me about brush that I used on my last painting - that was usual hard brush, opacity and size set to pen pressure. I just made it quite small and painted, painted....
very very cool stuff in here! Keep it up !
Ludic Thank youi will...
LtPlissken yeah i noticed it after i posted it on the finished thread, like i said way too disappointed with it to continue.
Danny_K hhh....i actually just hate to copy/study from someone else's work, i know it sounds stupid (and it is actually) but i prefer to draw crappy pictures and do it the hard way, instead of making it the easier way studying from the masters...i just want to make it all by my self....that just my stupid mind playing tricks on me.
I do need to do more life color studies though!!!!
Bing! Thank youi"ll give it a try.
in2eternity Thank you
TomDeVis Thanks
Ok, i've been a bit lazy (ok a lot) for the past few days and kinda frustrated because i'm not improving as fast as i wished....oh well i gotta do some color life studies....

Hi there!
Gorgeous sketchbook, lots of variety and work! I especially enjoyed slicking though the pencil works - especially like the faces. Unfortunately, digital painting almost drains the life of the linework/sketch! I would recommend looking closer at what you can do with more contrast/depth/colour - keep your art alive - it's beautiful!
Best wishes,
Ana
Beautiful pencils *drooling*. The paintings are getting better too and of course you'll keep pushing themI get the feeling this thread is going to be very fun to watch.
You are putting great efforts in your digital paintings,
and the most important thing is that you are improving.
Your colors sometimes look a bit muddy but you will get
the hang of it later. Doing that digital painting from life
is a very good idea. That is the fastest way that you will
improve, drawing and painting from life.
Your pencils are outstanding as always. Study more
face proportions, and try to draw faces in perspective and under
certain angles. Keep on doing the good things.
Jansi Thank you for the complimentsi'm trying to improve my painting skills as much as i can so i hope it will get better a bit soon.
bpic Thank you
LtPlissken Thanks for the advices man.
Here is a lil update on the girl painting.

For your latest piece, i sort of feel like the lightning doesn't make much sense, from what i can tell, there's a lightsource coming from right of the viewer and one from the background so i feel a bit like you could add lightning to her right side aswell since the lightning in the background appears to be on both sides. you could also try boosting the value a bit inside of her cloak and on the bears neck and throat.
Not sure if it makes sense and i don't have my tablet at the moment so i can't show you what i mean.
I love these peeps.
yo fallen! damn, your pencils always amaze me xD. as for the digitals-- don't be so hard on yourself. i can definitely see improvements in both brush economy and colors. you have a nice balance between warm/cool contrast and i think you have a good understanding of that portion. keep on with the life studies because i can already see you improving faster than you probably haven't noticed yourself![]()

Yeah! this is progress man greatpaintings look better and better, if you want a good book about lighting and color I recommend "Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter" by James Gurney I have both of his books (Creative Imaginism as well) those two books probably are the best books out there for light and color, just go get them they will be worth your coin believe me.
as far as a scene painting remember few important things, there is 3 light sources usually, 1st is the sun 2nd is from the sky(usually bluish in tone) 3d is an reflected light which the source is the 1st the sun, it is important to keep in mind when before you even start a painting, where is the light source coming from? what kind of hour in the day is it?your entire scene will be effected by the type of lighting that you choose and it should be consistant, of course we can bend the rules just like photographers use flash lighting in a sunset setting and it make an impressive picture but I suggest before bending any rules study them and apply them so it will be stored in your subconcious and then you can bend whichever rule you want, I study this stuff myself and its amazing how fast your paintings improve when you start make sense of things and notice the theory behind.
how long till manayek? or are you a free man already because I see you posting more lately.
Cheers!

Danny Thanks matethe sad thing that i know in theory every thing that you written about, but i'm lacking the skills to actually make a picture using this knowledge...
so thank you again for the tips, i really hope that i"ll be able to use 'em in my next pics.
וסיימיתי את הצבא לפני כמה שבועות אחרי כמעט 6 שנים!! אז יש לי "קצת" יותר זמן חופשי עכשיו ואני מקווה להתקדם רחוק ככל האפשר עם הציור.

teapo Thanks mate
Here are some sketches from the past few days, i really can't keep it numbered and categorized like some other people so i've got hand, face, leg studies and waht not on one page.... enjoy

Hi Fallenangel. Your pencils are pretty good, though more practice is needed. I would say youre almost there. For now try to focuse on practicing drawing human figures. Stop coloring for a while until u feel comfortable with penciling/drawing. I'm also a penciler so until u get the pencils right, what's the point. Also, look at the comic books for your reference. The lines that make a cool looking figure (superheroes etc) are already there in those comic books. it's hard to use real reference. The book that worked for me and many others is " Dynamic figure drawing" by Burne Hogarth. Used one 20$, but worth every penny. Anyway, keep up a good work and keep us updated.
Talent is there, u just have to pull it out.
I really like how you work with your women, lol, tey are diferent, I don´t know why some of them fix my eyes sometimes.
Keep posting

you got some nice drawings here, i like your girls and your painting the girl and the bear is really nice
hehe nice, all you need now is practice and tons of it. my suggestion do 80% studies 20% imagination for few months and you will leap boundaries with your skill, there is nothing thats stopping you dude no army nothing just get those darn fundamentals going anatomy color and all that good stuff and start freelancing!
mazal tov on the shihrur, 6 years?! sheesh quite some time well you sure made enough cash by that time to invest all your time on art now ^_^

lazicoliver Thanks, i really don't think that quitting painting will give me that advantage in penciling, and i haven't decided yet what i really want to make with my so called "art"...actually i see it like that now:
i can be mostly a painter, digital or traditional and a comic book penciler but it would be harder (again imo) to be mostly a penciler and make painting from time to time....
enthombed Thank youi'm trying.
paranoiak Thank you
Danny Thanks mate, though i still don't think that art is what i'm gonna do in my future, it would probably would take a huge place in my life but i don't want to make it my the only thing.
Here are some studies from yesterday...(really gotta make some more face studies...because mine look like crap right now)
And a lil painting based on some lines i found on DA...just for practice and fun
