dierat: thanks soo much! I've seen some of her work before, but she is just brilliant... inspirational! The tutorials are REALLY helpful!
    I read something about working digital on her website that's exactly how I'm feeling right now;

I find that I can experiment so much more when working on the computer. I grow bold: I try new things because I can save the original version of an image and I don't have to worry about a good picture being ruined for all time, because I tried something different with it. I was always terrified of that. My brush was shy against the canvas, and it stumped my growth.
I sort of finished the two selfportrait things. Don't want to go further with it, because I can't see them anymore haha.

This week I started my job in a interior/giftshop. I have to unpack all the boxes from the storageroom, all day long. My back hurts, haha.
I've worked 3 full days now, and from doing nothing to working from 9 am to 6 pm is soooo hard.
I did a drawing yesterday, done from a picture of a friend, Jacqueline.
I'm not proud of it or something, but I post it anyway.

Love the latest one; the face is coming along really well. The elbow area of the upper arm feels a bit strange to me right now, but I'm not sure what it is. Btw lovely choice of colors - the orange of the hair against that bright green has an almost surreal effect. Keep up the good work!

Heya thanks for the bump in ma sketchbook!
Pretty cool to see another dutchy in here. You got some great work in here.
I really like those selfportrait thingies from a bit earlier. The blureffects worked out superb!
Those pencils are cool. Though you have a pretty smooth look. Maybe play with some softer edges for example in the shadow thats cast by the cowboy hat and add some folds and other irruptions to the hat and shirt to create a more interesting look.
About your latest update. I think your image is a bit to green overall. I mean the background is fine but you shouldn't make your skin tones look so green. Just take a more natural skin tone and use the green as a cast shadow. In that way it will look more believable and alive.
    Great stuff keep it up!

BlackDelphin: tnx so much! I don't know what light colour and shadows, and what to do with the crystal ball, but I'll see ^^
dierat: dankje! I can't find what it is either, but I know what you mean.
jordyskateboardy: thanks for the tip, I tried to make the skintone more pinkish but I don't see anymore what's better..
    Mischeviouslittleelf: thank you!

I tried to make the skintone more... contrasting with the green background, and played with the highlights.
I think I'll go further with it after hockeypractice.

Nice, nice! Really nice hands and their sketch is really good too! But looking at it, makes me see that right hand as if it were a tad more chubby..

Also i think your crystal little ball should be more to the centre and perhaps even larger, to really go with her pose.

The skin by the way is really pretty, and the details in the brighter areas are a nice touch.
Looking forward to seeing this updated once more!

    Cerasela: Danke schön!
Do you think it looks like a selfportrait because of the composition and point of view?

    BlackDelphin: Thanks so much!
About the hands; I made this partially from ref, and the hands were very hard to draw, because the right hand looked a bit chubby to me too. But now I don't see it anymore and I have peace with it , haha.
About the ball; the picture I used for this piece, was from the wife of this man ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTdo3F_-oTU

and she can do the same things with one ball as he does with several
That's why it is on the top of her hand and not in the center, because she kind of juggles with it.

I think it's better for the composition if I place the ball in the center, but that feels like I ... dishonour her talent (probably wrong word for it but can't think of another one). So I guess I leave it this way .

OmertA; Thank you for stopping by again!

So, I'm freakishly busy these days, it's insanely busy at the store.
I have a band with two friends and we had some massive song inspiration this week, and wrote 7 songs in 5 days!
That's the reason why this update is crap.

I wanted to try something else with paint. A lot of colours, and not so smooth brushstrokes as i'm used to do.

Little update and a landscape (view from my window) I did a month ago. It looks a bit too.. comic-ish i guess?
There's snow now! Which is not a very common thing here in Holland. So I'm doing another view from my window, this time with snow!

    Heya,

I really like the traditional portrait above. Really good stuff. Though you might wanna lessen the shade on her cheecks. It's a bit too outstanding atm.
Really great SP as well. Love the values. Really neat.
You might wanna watch your blending though. At some areas it's just a tad to rough. For example in the chin. The brush texture just grabs a lil to much attention. Grab a hard round brush with hardness set to 30% or something and just quicly blend it a bit more. Don't make it look too digital by adding some texture on top of that. But be very minimum.
In the environment I think you handled the tree really well. YOu do wanna watch your grass. You don't need to paint every little grass patch which is what you're kinda implying now. Just make it all green with some color graduations and add a minor amount of reall strokes. I'm talking about the second farthest patch. The first one is well done. Do the second one like that as well. Besides that you're colors are a bit superficial. Throw down the saturation. Colours are pretty greyish in reall life and all together they still make a very virbrant image. Another tip might be using the lasso tool to get some sharper forms. Use it for the monitor to get some straight edges instead of it being all skewed. Really easy tricks that pays off well.
Hope that was a bit of a help.
Thanks for replying in my sb btw. To answer your question yea I'm applying for an art Acadamy. Though I love acryl I wont apply to a fine art class. They are a bit to vague there and Im not a big fan of all the abstract stuff therefore Ive chosen to do some sort of game design course. Checked at the HKU as well as NHTV in Breda and have chosen to attend Breda. First and foremost because the course is in english which better suits my bilingual education and the teachers had a bit more experience coming from other countries. This Andrew Paquette guy worked on unreal tournament so yea Id love to be taught by him haha. And then Ill have to move out as well which is great. HKU is pretty close and I don't wanna stay at home. What Uni did you attend or are you attending?

    Greetz,
    Jordy

    jordyskateboardy: thanks! Really helpfull!
Don't know what you mean with the shadows on the cheeks?
Wanted to keep some contrast. I first smoothened the skin, but I didn't like it. So I chose for more texture. It's from a pretty high contrasted picture I guess, my freckles are that dark, and I have that much freckles, so if that ruins the piece... I guess that's too bad then haha.
I see what you mean, about the chin. I paint (with real paint) very smooth, and I want to try different techniques. As you can see at the traditional portrait several posts back (with the coloured background), I suck at it.
So I practise with digital, to get the feeling more.

I attended Academie voor Beeldende Vorming in Amsterdam for 2 years. Then decided that it's not my thing, because of the way teachers treat students and the very extreme chaos (also in grades, test you've made, etc).
I'm going to follow oil paint classes starting from January. I'm searching for another school right now.
