Frostmourne contest entry

Hey, guys! Here's my entry for Blizzard's Frostmourne contest! I had a WIP thread goin', so a few of yah mighta seen this thing throughout the ages, but the deadline's just about up, and I'm done toyin' with 'er.

Your thoughts?

Looks good. There are still a lot of things you could fiddle with, but at some point it has to be time to put a piece to bed. Flipping it was definitely a good move.

I think the older picture with the sword stabbed on to a goblin's head looks pretty bad ass, that part was a great idea.

mmm, the other one was a lot better I think... There was much better subject matter/colors. I dont think frostmourne when i see the new one... Still good work though

There were some enormous technical problems with the first image.

I couldn't possibly send that image to Blizzard the way that it was, so I opted for a new one, and I'm pretty happy with it.

I love this one, the only thing i really miss was the heads in the ice that the sword stabbed into, but i this one defiantly looks more realistic, i kinda miss those frost whores...

you got to think, if you sent in the other one, and lost you would be pissed thinking that this one would have won, and if this one looses you may end up thinking the same about the other one so im kinda glad im not in your shoes, all though maybe you don't even see it like that... Pfft now im rambling :/

Hi, as a casual observer I think you made the right choice. Although the goblin head on the end of the sword is indeed awesome, I think he looks more badass without it. Same goes for the ladies. They were just over emphasizing his evilness.

The new picture has much more movement in it, like there's a battle about to begin/he's about to join the battle. There's a storm brewing! I think the colours reflect that too. I also prefer his new proportions.

Hehehe, I get what'cha mean, but for me I'm happier sending Blizzard a totally working image rather than something more entertaining.

That last one just has tons of screw ups, I just couldn't send it, haha...

i have to say i prefer the earlier version. the main reason being the different levels of focus on the foreground and background make the main character a real focal point, in combination with the effect of the sunlight on the background elements this establishes good sense of depth.

i personally think that the first one is a better image with some technical issues that could be fixed.

absolutely love the expressions and the energy flowing in this painting. One thing you might do really quick if it isn't too late - the blue glow from the knight's hand. It's a little hard to tell that it's the light source for the blue reflecting off his face and body. You may want to lighten the glow around his hand. I figure just dodging that area shouldn't take long.

Yeah. I agree with Elwell that flipping it was a REALLY good idea. I mean... hell yeah man. Good piece.

man why u changed the undead bitches they where great..why u didnt fix the face?...arthas is a handsom guy evil but good locking..this guy is ugly

Hahahaha, I dunno, Arthas doesn't look so pretty on the Frozen Throne cover if you ask me...

This looks pretty awesome, definitly Blizzardish. I agree with most people that the other one had better subject matter and lighting but I think the anatomy and proportions in this one are far nicer. I think if you make the green light more blue it would get that frostmourn feel, also maybe the green light is a little too intense.

Nice man! I wonder if we'll get to see everyone's when the contest is over? (I entered too, but I'm not happy with what I had to hand in, so I'm going to continue working on mine)

Haha I've made a ton of posts on this site looking for people who still play WC3 tft. We should all meet up some time!

Hey chaoticknight, my old melee account that used the name tri_beer_gut has been deleted from me being idle so long, but im thinking of remaking it, i also play dota on warcraft III under the name godllke(2 ls no i) in caps so it looks like it says GODLIKE, add either of those and ill try to play a few games with you.

damn i need to practice micro managing again im all rusty

Now we should get back to art before this thread is infected with the word noob, and or pownzors.
