OH SHIT PAGE 2!?
sad it's mostly just me commenting on my own sketchbook... KEEP IT UP TAJ YOU'RE GONNA BE GREAT. just dont get cocky, this stuffs a'ight but not tight.
Nice sketches man! You're quite good with the ballpoint, suits you nicely I think.
Flaskpost - thanks man, i hope i can develop my ideas more.
septomin- thanks, i'm actually trying to stop using pen, it's hard when i have a bunch of SKB-1000's im trying to kill.
I'm working on my digital painting, probably doing more then necassary but here's a master copy of bellows.
more progress, studying some color, i'm digging Bellows low chroma colors and orangey skin tones, his portraits of kids are great, check them out.
I'm starting to see the very limited color palette in face, and how i dont have to use a billion colors to get a decent value going on, it's looking decent in my opinion...
I was studying up and reading some stuff about color and i came across this post by Jason Manley
Also, I was walking home in some shitty dark weather and i noticed the sky was pretty awesome tonight, the bottom wasnt red but it was this dull grey with lines of a blue and higher saturated and brighter spots poking through some spots...IF YOU KNOW WHAT THE POSSIBLE COLOR MIXTURES ARE FROM A LIMITED PALETTE THEN YOU CAN USE THEM DIGITALLY.
if you do need to memorize what colors to use for a limited palette(or any palette) follow this traditional excersize.
take these four colors (indian red, burnt sienna, ivory black, and yellow ochre) and do mixture charts. You will also need titanium white or flake white.
1 mix each color with every other color to a visual 50/50 mixture. Make a three or four step value scale down to white with each mixture. make a note of what colors are used for the mixtures. (yes I know this is a lot of work..but it will pay off..trust me)
2 mix each mixture to a 75/25 percent split and a 25/75 percent split and do the value scale to white for each.
DO THIS FOR EVERY COLOR ON THAT FIVE COLOR LIST.
what mixtures make nice greens (relatively)
what mixtures make nice warms?
what mixtures make nice cools?
What is your coolest mixture?
what is your darkest mixture?
what is your most intense mixture?
what is your most....
best of luck
ps..yes I did this for many hours in the beginning. I had two different mentors make me do it...yikes! boring...but relaxing..and its good for your color mixing skills too.
Remember...rembrandt, velasquez and many other artists only used the above colors and their stuff looks like it is full color in ways....it is all about where you place your colors and knowing how to mix your colors.
Practicing My Valuezzzzzzzzzz
I like to have the form of a sense of the image.good job`
Uncle Monster 是也~
home made texture, with some painting top of it.
ALSO heres a MEHICAN WRASTLER
testing out my studying, trying to hit the value and hue, saturation is a little high though.
Awesome man, the pencil renderings and watercolor. Just keep on tugging on your proportions and coloring. Which have improved since your first post. Remember that Perseverance is key.
I'm out to conquer the world equipped with a pencil, digital paint and a Sketchbook
and when I do achieve that goal...I'll conquer the moon too
