Hi! I'm a student at a video game school in Plano, TX, (specializing in concept art) and I've decided to start a sketchbook here. I'll be posting pretty much everything I'm drawing or painting here, so enjoy and please give me feedback and critiques because I need them to improve.

This was a portrait that was created for a final project. Worked on this for 200+ hours in Photoshop. Taken from a reference photo of Masi Oka.

Great figure studies, that portrait of Masi Oka is insane! Only realised it was a paint when I read the description, 200+ hours - thats commitment

Good job with the figures and PS colouring! With PS, working with a bigger brush would make things easier and do good to the look of your paintings though. First block with base colours using a brush that looks way too large and go on from that. That female nude seems to have a pretty inconsistent lighting too. You could benefit from trying to think about the figure as a set of planes like loomis teaches (link, link) and you'll get the light, midtone and shadow in the right places. Pen work and hatching looks great. Keep at it!

Thanks for the feedback, Smuli. I'll look over the Loomis stuff and practice that to get consistent lighting. I'll also start working w/a large brush to start with. That's typically what I'll do and then go in after the initial colors are laid down to add some detail.

This is an in-class painting from a model. This took an hour and was a new technique I used in which I started with a black canvas and erased where I wanted it to be white.

Your doing great. You have come a long way. The Machu Picchu Weapon is amazing. The environment is getting stronger from your first example to this last one. The only thing I could say to work on is clean lines. It can help make pieces look stonger, and you really want things to stand out when you put this into a portfolio.
