look, your works are muddy because of your use of 0% hardness brush in 5% opacity.
Well you can use harder brush or just erase the mudness
Keep drawing![]()
I think Using a harder brush could be an option. You could also use the selection tool and to block out a basic silhouette of your shape and then slowly build on it with a softer brush, 30% opacity or so.
do some research, and yes this will sound cheesy but, go to you tube and type in speed painting, concept painting, digital painting....you can learn a lot from watching some one elses process. onceyou understand how someone works then you can adapt your own style and improve on what youve learned

two new dig paintings still tweaking up thought I'd throw em up in sketchbook

In the Western piece, there's something skewed about his head compared to his body, and then his body compared to the horse. He looks really tiny compared to how big his left leg is and to the horse.
Only the heart intrinsically noble can succeed...

The linework here is pretty good. But I agree with other crits that the Digital colourling looks murky, I can't help other than that as I have no experience with Digital Art.
All I can say is try and use stronger colours to define the shade, shape and form of the figures.
------- Edit;
Just revisiting your Sketchbook and noticed one very prominent flaw in your first upload. The woman's left elbow (on our right) looks broken, due to it going in rather than out. Otherwise it'd be really good.

If you are using Photoshop, I learned recently that using higher opacity (100% preferred) and harder brushes, but playing with flow, is better.
