Crits needed

I've been having a hard time with this chick's proportions...espesially her head and right arm...so I just decided to post it and ask for the help of those better than me (meaning everyone on this site). I didn't clean, shade or color her because I know I'm probably gonna have to redo her completely because of mistakes I've made.

Oh it reminds me of some stuff i used to do a few years ago, i mean a character seen from a frontal view and always wieldin a weapon!
I used to do alot... but hey WHO cares???!!!

Well the anatomy of this girl is quite off i think but i fear we cant help u alot about it, only practice, studies and.... hmm let me think... work can, dont u think so?

Though i've done a little something to show u that her left (right for us?) is a bit of a catastrophe, Ok?
Things dont curve the way they should around the elbow area so the crappy drawing i did is just to illustrate my thoughts more accurately, hope it helps!

Here's a quick red line I did to show how to change up your pose to make it look more natural. First, try turning the body slightly. Anytime one leg is out, the hips must become angled. The leg that is supporting the character's weight, the hip must be raised on that side. Since the other leg isn't holding as much weight, the hip drops some. Your left shoulder was out too far so I pulled it in. As mentioned by others, the arm anatomy is waaaay off. S.M nailed it perfectly for you.

You need to practice drawing bodys to really improve, but I'd say your proportions at least are much closer than many beginners. Work on anatomy, and try drawing from photos for a while to figure out natural and interesting poses.

hey mate, instead of helping specifically for this image, I thought Id give some advice about proportion in general because you mentioned thats what you had trouble with. Besides practicing furiously, you should start learning to observe, i recommend life drawing classes, if not, i suggest a simple measuring technique using your own body: compare body parts to each other, the size of the hand compared to the head, etc. its really simple and there are a billions things you can measure to and with on the body. you could even do some empirical measurements and use a ruler. drawing books have guides also that may help. while i prefer life drawing, dont be afraid to look at some reference photos to compare with your drawing and see where you may be going wrong.
its all about training your eye to notice the proportions. keep going man.

mmmmmmm her arms are too long and her facial features are skewed - did you draw in the underlying structure (bones, muscles) before you did the contour?

well yea I know her face isnt right but (maybe just my noobness)I dont see her arms being too long

Thanks TAS for the tutorials, think they will help, and I am actually practicing....doing about a sketch a day....but the problem is that Im not getting any better (maybe just needs time)

i think you need to do reams of quick gestures, (3-5 minutes each, all over a page, preferably from life, maybe from referance) and not worry what the end result looks like to loosen you up. I wouldn't dive into practicing drawing from imagination without a point of real life referance in the back of your head to draw from.

Yea thanks Lake, now I see what you mean with the arms. I do use a similar technique to draw, my proportions were just screwed.
