The "Artists Looking For Work" forum

I'm not going to name specific names, but does anyone else feel it is bad form to update your thread in that forum several times a day, thereby keeping it at the top of the forum? I understand everyone in that thread wants to be seen, but seriously... every few hours? That borders on spam doesn't it? I'd think it would be good form to wait a few days between posts, wait until you can make a substancial post. The problem I see is if this is allowed to continue then more people will have to try the same tactic so they do not get buried, which will turn the forum into a madhouse.

Can we maybe set a forum suggestion of once every few days? Or failing that a limit of no more than 10 pieces, which should be plenty for any portfolio posted.

    Just a suggestion and rant.

Yeah I can see what your saying, I used to make a rule for myself a while ago that I could only post when im off the front page or there abouts, and only if I have something to update. Havent posted in there in ages due to university kicking my ass, but that will all change in T minus 1 week.

Man, you go IN there? I didn't ever see much of a point since I'm not out to hire anyone. Plus...it can be a little scary (not always, just....lots of one-hit-wonders with poor writing skills).

Yeah, I resisted going in there for a while, but then I figured "why not?" A little more exposure and how could it hurt? But man, there is at least one person who is updating their thread at least twice a day. Man, wait until you can make a real update! Spamming the forum is annoying as hell. It's ok to fall from the top of the forum, really. Anyone who needs someone will look deeper than the first couple of posts. I'm just afraid others will start doing it too to compete and it will turn into a mad house.

I can't speak for the other job forums mods but if they are anything like me, they don't really monitor that part. If it happens, PM us with the nick of the culprit. Anyone updating that often is clearly not doing enough art.

Elwell, thanks for that. I wasn't sure the best way to handle it, and I was hesitant to call them out in their portfolio thread. Much better from someone who's been here a while and has earned some authority.
