    Kalispere Vasilia Kosta

As you can see we share some common ground. I am from greece as well and I also like music and keyboards (http://www.myspace.com/thekilon) and I would love to improve my drawing/painting skills and I have some experience with 3d (3d studio max, softimage xsi, zbrush) .

Unfortunately my drawing skill is not as good as my music skills . But I decided to focus more on drawing and less on making music.

Your work is really an inspiration. I like your themes and your coloring. Just on question. How long did it take you to reach this level ? I am new to this and try to get an idea how much time must I spent before seeing some serious results.

Keep posting , I love to see new things from you.

Ps. Just realized this is my 1st post !!!!

Great stuff! Your realism and body composition are great, even your shading is quite good (much better then mine, lol)

But I do have to say that your anime attempts (I counted a few of them) Seem somewhat forced. I think the issue is that you apply very exaggerated figures to a very realistic head...like photoshopping Micky-mouse's face on an actual mouse.
Warning! Drinking lots of beer can impair your senses. Please do so before you view my sketchbook!

Thnx for your comment.Look dont let music entirely(i play music sometimes to get motivated)
Well listen, first of all start a sketchbook here and be ready to draw everyday at least one sketch.(i am telling you this cause you wanna basically reach a certain level in some time)
I suggest you to start doing anatomy studies so that you will be able to do characters for your works.I have made a good enough anatomy understanding project(that is currently improving day by day) and maybe it will be able to help you learning anatomy faster. You may have seen these sketches(anatomy understanding) in my previous posts.
Ok lets not tell it all in here, i wait you to make a sketchbook and show me and all the CA community your works.I am sure all people here will offer help for the best result, all you need basically is the right mood and motivation.
After you make a sketchbook, place the link to your sketchbook to your signature so that will be easier to find.
    See ya

Nadesican:Thank you .Look you are right as we both agree that i have this problem. It all started when i was(and i am currently in this path)focused in reality and human anatomy etc.My old anime drawings were anime but after i focused on realism they lost their anime soul. After i will finish the needed studies that i am doing, i will then set foot again in anime/manga style to expand the two schools of art(anime/manga , realism/comic) in a balanced way.

Thnx for your comments guys, i will post really soon

No I wont abandon music, I will have to agree with you here , music can give alot of motivation. I was thinking of combining both music and drawing at some level , but will see. I am satisfied with my music but I am not satisfied with my drawing.

I have already downloaded some good ,anatomy and perspective e-books , I will follow your advice and study them carefully. Thanks for the advice of the sketchbook, I will do it as soon as I finish my first studies and have something to upload. Thank you very much for your advice , you are very helpful.

I love your coloring experiment you used so moody colors and I see improvement on every study you post. You surely motivate me.

I really like that creature on your last update!
I look for its nostril on the beak, thinking: "here goes the eye", and i get surprise to see that the eye is way before that. Its really a nice way to surprise and unsettle the viewer, Its really a nice design.

Your studies are, as always, amazing man.
    Keep it up! cheers!

Great Dino-bird-thingy. Its well designed, and your use of perspective makes it really seem huge! Though in a functional position, I wonder why a four-legged animal of that size would have weenie little arms like that..

    Hey dude!

Your figures and understanding is getting even more solid yet...the last page with a man and woman sitting down...from reference or from your head? You are also placing some nice 'landmarks' on them which adds a lot to the realism...such as nicely formed knees, elbow suggestions etc.

Also think about suggesting the 'iliac crest of the pelvis' (looked it up for ya!), and perhaps emphasizing your feet a little more...sometimes they seem so simple and yet can have interesting shape.

With your colored piece I think it suffers from too many heavy darks...it doesnt encourge as much eye movement, or depth, or focal point as strongly as it could. Try and lighten the BG trees and see how much your character will pop out. Good start

Jakers:Thnx pal .I will try to make some experiments with it .By the way when i use references i write a notice next to the sketch (all my works are non-ref, and thats a goal)It doesnt mean that my understand came from nowhere, but from good observation and memorization

    Thnx for support guys

hey man really good work as allways. It is a real tragedy that you dont have a tablet. In your first post you made the comment that you wanted to get into Video games. Video game concept requires several different skills, you are doing great at character design but I think with your understanding of volume and form you could do some really brilliant three-quarter view environment studies. These are environment shots that really explore the game-play space from a functional angle. Give it a shot I bet you would do really well.

WOW those are quite an improvement , it is a big step. Keep going , I really like the last ones. With color you need to understand shadow and light better , you have very dark and very saturated areas in you colors , but as usual I love your choice of colors.

I see better anatomy and better lines , quite good.

    The cube is the best
Try using just the normal hard brush laying down everything then blending
It looks much more solid that way because right now things are looking muddy
Check out bumskee's digital painting thread in the photoshop sub forum it helps tons and there alot more thread to help in therre
