One of these days I hope to be as good as all the awesome artists I see on this site- I'm not even close but I'll keep trying and trying! Any help (advice or crits) would be greatly appreciated!

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted anything here! I started going to figure drawing (yaaaay figure drawing) so I have a backlog of stuff to post. I guess I'll start with the oldest (that I can find anyway) and post in batches. Don't know how much improvement there's been, but it's been lots of fun and I've experimented a little bit.
These first ones are boring as crap though lol
Another boring batch.![]()
Another batch. Trying some new mediums. Much more fun than graphite alone.
Hmmm, these last two didn't make it into the last post.
Aaaand another batch.![]()
Arrrghh so backlogged on figure drawing. Got a ton of stuff I need to scan and post! Buuut.... here's a chow!
Hey fox ,great figure drawings ,in each medium ,and I like the Female Sith lord too ,gives a nice feeling .I'll try to be helpfull by saying that the leg seems a bit flat ,and the lower body doesn't seem fully "attached" to the uppder body.In spite of that, the drawing is good and I like it ,you should pay more attention to anatomy and could try to be more carefull with the details and keep improving ,you could try posemaniacs site .Hope this helps ,good tidings and drawings!![]()
Please visit , comment , rate and crit me. I will appreciate it and I like making friends.
Thank you for visiting.
Rostas: thanks!! You're right, I do have to work on my anatomy. It's something that I'm constantly studying and struggling with- but hopefully one day I'll get the hang of it!
Once again I've gone way too long between updates and now I have a big backlog of stuff. Sooo... heres a bunch of random figure drawing stuff. The pen sketches are from 1-5 minute poses, and the ones on toned paper are from the longer poses: usually about 1-1 1/2 hours.
Sorry to be a spammer, but here's a few more things.
We've got a couple crap-happy speedpaints, a chow (that I didn't quiiiiite finish well enough but still entered), and more figure drawing. This one is from the long pose, where he have two sessions with the same pose for a total of 5 hours. I used acrylics! Fun, fun.
I can see improvement already!
I would reccomend focusing a bit more time on the shadow shapes. Go ahead and draw the shadow shapes just like you do the outline of the figure. It will help solidify the drawings and give them more volume. Keep it up

Ging: thanks! I think the drawings on toned paper lose a lot when I scan them- that colored pencil doesn't show up as much which may account for the weakness of the shadows (they seem stronger in person) but I will try to pay more attention to them as well!
Heres some anatomy studies and a speedpaint. I need to get back into some more spontaneous and creative sketching - but I actually really enjoy the anatomy studies (and lord knows I need to work on my anatomy lol)
Even moooore figure drawing! I've been slacking way off on drawing/painting anything else- but lately I've been distracted by sculpting. Clay is fun! No pictures of my sculpting attempts yet though.
Wow it's been a really long time since I've posted here!!I have a lot of stuff (which I will probably never get around to posting lol)- here's a few things from the gap before I post new stuff.
Here's some finished chow entries and some not so finished entries (which I continue to work on when I have time).
Well here's two more chow entries. I got pretty discouraged recently, especially after the yakuza chow. Soo I'm trying to focus on doing more studies and trying to spend more time on pictures (instead of trying to rush to finish in a week for the chow challenges). I get really bummed out that I don't have more time for art- but a full time job (which doesn't involve doing art) and family stuff tends to get in the way. If only I didn't have to sleep! I try to sacrifice it as much as possible though...

Well here's some more crap no one will ever look at
Studies, sketches for the royal wedding chow, and a wip of my death mage from the mage wars chow.
I got a name change! Felt like it was time...
Some sketchies- the Blue Angels did an air show in my town over the weekend and I got to see them- got me all fired up to draw jets! (even though I can't draw machines to save my life lol) Also sketching for the chow this week- although I won't try to enter it's a cool topic and I want to do a picture for it. Aaaand then there's a photo study that didn't really turn out all that great- just means I need to do a million more of 'em!!
Another sketchbook page of figure studies from ref. I think I'm going to try to make a goal of posting daily here- gonna be really tough during the week but I need a goal to keep me from slacking off.
There's a lot of improvement in a short time, I especially like the colors in post #14 first drawing and also the last sketches on the yellow paper.
I should train my traditional sketching more, but I usually end up smudging the drawing before I finish, it's difficult to get nice and crisp sketches with pencil
Wow Wow a comment!! Thanks very muchIt was starting to get lonely in here
I have found with sketching that if you use a harder lead it smears less than the softer ones (although smearing always still seems to happen somehow).
I failed miserably at my goal to post daily alreadyIt seems like all I can do to post once a week. I barely get any time to draw, but I will continue trying harder!!
Playing with color on the Eomer sketch from my sketchbook...
Another acrylic painting from figure drawing. Really wish I had more opportunity to do these, but it's rare that our local figure drawing class does the longer poses.
Bleh these scans don't look so good...
Moar studies and a photostudy!
Y u b so angry Jude Law? Is it cuz I messed up your face?![]()
A commission...
Some pretty embarrassing Loomis studies, and a photostudy wip...
.....
Very nice SB, the figures are pretty good, the portraits look fantastic too, and im digging those anatomy studies on toned paper! keep it up !

rem92: Thanks very much!!
Well I haven't had much time to draw, but I at least try to keep at these studies.
