I like your character pieces, esp. 98-- I like the streaky, gloomy oil-like backgrounds on some of those.

im actually using a translucent brush to block in values its not working very well though.
Agreed-- I don't think it works very well at all either, probably because I'm noobish at using it but on the other hand I don't think I like the look of it, it adds a very "photoshoppy" look that I think looks terrible.

My favorite brushes are the ones that are like rectangular chalks, the first set of rectangulars in the default brush menu in pee shop.

Congratulation for the job .Try some greyscale rendering studies.
Start from simple shapes and go on(if you master the way to render basic shapes(under light) then if you imagine the body as shapes(you will aquire this by continuing the anatomy studies) then you will be able to make nice and accurate rendering and value depiction.

    Keep going mate!!!

(EDIT: staff of the last character is awesome!!!)

nice sketchbook! tiny hint: try to avoid parallel shapes in your characterdesigns (such as the leg and the bar in you last one!)
    keep practising!

    ditchman-Thanks man!

Finn Diesel- Yeah the bear drawings were fun i tryed to keep it loose and fun.

kingkostas-Thank you, yeah ill take your advice and do some simple shape studies.

    Walid D- Thanks!

kelly x- haha thanks yeah i love to ride bikes been that way scince i was a little kid. My colors are lame though! i really need to get some more studies on them as soon as i can.

DeKal-thanks bro, your work is awsome man!

jatherip-will do man. Tahnks for the comment

domo arigato- Domo! thanks alot for the encouragement and the inspiration.

dessinateurimpulsif- Yeah bridgemen is awsome man. I love how he keeps it so abstract.

    ----------------------------------
I didnt get to paint as much as i wanted today. Im leaving for a biking trip to arizona with my freinds tommorow night. Ill be gone for a week so updates wont occur. Ill try and find a scanner out there if i can!

Anyway heres a sketch for today kinda tried a new method out at the end.
Need to get my structure down more before i dive into rendering.
I start my figures out so idiotic. I have no idea what im going for just scribbling, and then it just turns into something. Art is so weird sometimes.
Also a update on my still life its so hard to paint i need to concentrate more!
Thanks again for the comments guys i take each one into consideration.

keep it up! all those bridgeman studies are paying off.
great character design! i think his right leg looks a little disjointed, its too far to the left for that position. if his leg was in that position his foot would be rotated somewhat (hope this makes sense ).

You have some great works in here! Definitely your own style (which is great to see!) You just turned 18? (Have you been drawing for a few years?) Really enjoyed looking through your pieces - you've got some really strong studies and a great imagination! Looking forward to seeing more!

RETEP- Thanks hope its showing in a way. Its kinda weird i do bridgemen studies and they kinda help out my armor designs. But your right the leg does look pretty disjointed will try and fix it up when i attempt to render it. im scared to to tell you the truth haha.

meticulous-Haha me have a style na i dont think so it all looks so diffrent to me. But yeah just turned 18 this april. If you want heres a link to my old old sketchbook from when i was 15/16 ahh its so lame! http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=94216 Thanks for the support and stoping by!

Arteater-Thanks alot man. i guess i have a style but i have a hundred billion other styles i need to focus down to one im the most comftorable with.

So much to do today not enough time to paint. Thank you all for the comment and crits everyone makes me want to draw and paint even more!

Circles my ass! Sometimes it's hard for someone to see their own progress, even if it is obvious to others.

You've progressed very well in these five pages. Plus, you've already got half the equation, the half that I don't: creativity. The ability to actually draw something interesting.

    Good work.

Wow, your evolution is fantastic. My advice is keep working on the figure a lot, and also don't get lazy with perspective, it's very important, so made grids and stuff.
My favorite are all the drawings of this page so keep 'em coming.
