JoeS- thanks man Leyendecker is a beast haha

    Izene- Thanks!

So went back edited this post with some commissions I worked on. I did start a new sketchbook but thinking since I've had this one for so long might as well stick with it
Honestly dont really like these paintings much any more I totally went full blown with detailing stuff and for that I lacked on the underlining foundations of these pieces.

dude.. i was totally stalking your new sketchbook and didn't realize you were posting again in the old one! i'm glad you made the decision to stick with this one i dunno, i just really like seeing other artist's progress from start to current.

anyway, those are some intense studies jamie i agree with you on mapping out perspective AND proportions but it does help... wait i shouldn't even mention the perspective one cuz i barely even do that myself which is a reminder!

    Happy Holidays bro!

Teapo - Thanks man It's defiantly a weird road especially in this sketchbook. I still feel like I haven't found my (style) or whatever but really been trying to learn and grow from everything I find inspiring. I've been way to frustrated trying to find a style ect when I should have been just enjoying the process of creating more. Thanks for the continuous feedback buddy!

AllyAlbon- Thanks Ally much appreciated it's cool people take the time to look through my sketchbook. I dont really find it to appealing to tell you the truth haha. A lot of going in circles in here and frustrating times. Latley been really trying to not get frustrated and slow down. Not to take things for granted and remember why I got into art in the first place to have fun

Been very busy with commissions, life ect here is a personal painting that I dig tried to keep it on the simple end since most of my commissions have been very detailed oriented stuff.
It feels quite relieving doing a work where you dont have to try and nail a page worth of descriptions and try and nail it in a deadline. Really gives me the time to think about every brush stroke or at least try to.

I love the expression in 1145. Just brilliant. Also, the perspective exercise looks both challenging and fun. Your anatomy studies are so inspiring.

Shiiiz, you can paint like the bloody dickens! I love your portrait studies! They are fantastic! As a crit, just watch out for your proportions. Your body size seems to stretch out at is progresses towards the feet, so your heads end up being very small, and your legs very long.
    Keep up the great work!

    Hey there, love your studies.

My only 2 crits would be that you should watch those proportions when doing your comission pieces (proportions in most of your studies are good). For example the forearm of that hunter girl is a tad too long, and her posture in general is a bit strange. Also, there are no visible anatomical landmarks such as the pit of the neck, arm muscles etc...

My second crit would be that you should watch out with your lighting, in some pieces you seem to have a tendency of making things too dark (that knight above the hunter girl).

    Otherwise, good work.

Just started looking through your sb, really great work. I like the Sargent piece a lot. Have you done any studies of Renoir? I think you might like how he uses his brushes, really delicate and soft. Now I'll keep looking, probably see a big Renoir piece, lol!

Really good improvement since the start.
Leyendecker study is spot on! Good studies all around. Something you might want to try is to be more efficient with your studies, that is putting what you learn from a study directly into a picture.
The other method to this is to start your picture and then make supplementary studies (which is where the whole 'study' thing came from anyway).

This is more efficient because you're using the studies as opposed to arbitrary drawing that serve no direct purpose.

I really like some of your studies, and I can totally see the influence of the brushwork you're studying on the original work you've done, especially the latest. You should post more often. =)

My biggest crit on your latest would be to use more reference. I'm pretty sure that horse is too small, and its anatomy looks off. The lighting on the figure isn't really consistent; his arm seems lit differently than his chest. Love the brushwork, though, the whole piece has a great energy to it.

HunterKiller_- Ah your very true and I do feel that way aswell sometimes I feel like I'm just studying stuff that serves no purpose. But guess if I'm drawing or painting anything it will only help with the visual library. But that is a great crit I do need to work on focusing my studies on actual pieces I'm doing. Cheers man!

Sean McClain- Thanks man much apprecited

    DStraX-Much thanks

Revidescent-I do need to get in the habit of posting more often looking back I think I made the most progress when I was posting everyday. But indeed on the latest peice should have dived more into it will keep that in mind for my next painting! have a good one will see you around.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So lately I've been in this weird spot where I dont want to post anything because of fear of failure. But I need to get out of this habit that's been growing on me. I should embrace that failure will happen and not be scared about what other people will think. In the end this sketchbook is about learning and growing and you cant learn if you dont fail.

heres some more blue pen sketchbook stuff some Mucha, Frazetta ,Waterhouse, Sargent, and some doodle stuff
