OmertA: Thanks OmertA! Sometimes I wonder about that...

Peetaer: Hey thanks! At the rate I'm going this weekend I think you will see more than you ever wanted.

DanielC: Okay, man. I'll post the whole image (I was trying to hide the less desirable areas, you caught me)...just fer you tho.

To answer the second question (and no ask as many as you want). Believe me, I am flattered that you would even ask me anything!

My technique is something I picked up from the Atelier, and Master Dobsky. After what felt like a few hundred cast drawings, it's hard to break th habit. But, it works well for me and I get really Zen about it, so it makes me feel good. I basically DON'T smudge. Not that its a bad thing, but you will train yourself to better see light on form if you concentrate on turning the form with almost minuscule value shifts with just strokes of your pencil. It's hard to explain, but not if I had a visual. What I am doing isn't magic or anything, but it does require an assload of patience. I fill in dots essentially, but I start of with blocking in the basic shadows, I use hatching and cross hatching. When I want to refine, I go in and make the hatching tighter and cleaner, then I kinda fill in the dots of blank areas that my pencil didn't quite get, or I lift off the darker areas with my kneaded eraser. You can kinda see how I start off with the less finished areas of my drawings. They do get smudged as I carry my sketchbook about, tho. So I had to spray them w fixative.

My sketches aren't as refined as I could get bc I didn't want to get all caught up in that part of the drawing.( Okay, I got self indulgent, and that went out th window a bit) I wanted quick concept of character, to train myself to capture light and shadow from my imagination better, and I wanted to see how far I could get with my anatomy from memory.

Anyways, I hope I answered your question in a that blathering. ugh, sorry bout that.

Those pencil sketches are unreal, thanks for explaining your technique by the way. It's making me very envious. I tend to smudge a lot myself and it works for me but perhaps I should listen to what you're saying because the end results are awesome in your pencils.

Will check here again, thanks again for the help!
