First humanoid character - A lot of things to practice....
I decided to try practicing the female body, combined with a great wish for understanding the Manga drawing style (where the beauty of the characters have eluded me for years). Finally I needed to practice skin-painting with my airbrush.
The material is Sculpey Firm, painted with Games Workshop and Vallejo colours. She is roughly 6" high.
Her stance is taken from the Philipino ESCRIMA style, although I dont remember anyone training in a dress like that.
I decided to stick with a picture from "How to draw Manga" from Graphic-SHA - called an average body.
Having laid down the foundation of the paint, I realised how urgent I need to practice my "smoothing of the clay"-skills as well. So I sanded her down until the worst errors was gone.
I there anybody out there with an idea (or even experience) on how to make better hair (and what materials to use)?
She has a lot of flaws, but so had my first girlfriend. I guess it is a question of experience. ;-)
