Hello!
My name is Emmy and this is my sketchbook. When I started this I was 19. Time has passed!

I am now a working concept artist at Coffee Stain Studios, Sweden. I'm currently creating concept and promotional art for the game Sanctum (and Sanctum 2) I've studied videogame graphics at uni for 3 years and a bit of animation before that. I'm mostly self taught and taught by good friends though. This is where I dump my artwork and where you can witness my personal progression!

I started this painting yesturday. My goal is to finish a painting without an lineart, since I've never done that evah.. Well, this is just the beginning and I'll be reconstructing most of her face.. I'll post my progress if I can and if you have something to say about it, I appriciate it loads.

This sure looks different in comparison to some of your older stuff that I remember from our WoW time

I like the way you are going with this stuff, could end very interesting.

One comment would be to work on your underlying shapes, in some of them the interlocking simply doesnt work that great, and it feels like certain bodyparts get dislocated.

You are definitly right. I am taking life drawing classes after summer and I can't wait.. I try to study anatomy on my own from books y'know but it's not as good as the real thing. I don't have the skills yet to match what I want to do and therefor things end up looking rather odd sometimes. I'll keep practicing. :3

Hi Quinn! I'm glad you like those two. They were experiments I made while being really frustrated with facial expressions not coming through as I wanted them to.

Okay.. new update.

1. Some cupcakes I designed to be put on a t-shirt or a top.

2. Random sketch trying on a new angle of the head..

3. Practicing a new colouring tecnique and two characters interacting.. The background is totally off, I have to practice my perspective-skills.. O__o I have none at the moment.

you know that I really dig your style hun and your characters are really getting some personality now. The new colouring technique is really clean and interesting though I would love to see some more colours incorporated into it.

Your anatomy could use some work in general but it is getting there. You are improving tons hun!

Nice sketchbook. I find your first things, with the girl character very french comic style, I really appreciated it. The goblin on WIP didn't enthusiasm me too much. I really believe you could keep your style and use it for the goblin

oooh, I'm glad I stumbled in here

love all the sketches, you have a really nice line stlye. Some of the colour translations work better than others: the new pastel colours are lovely....but in the girl fending off the hooded gun weilding character for example, the beauty of the pencils gets a little lost....I think it's partly down to textures-try to keep away from shiny shiny where its not neccisary (some of the top characters are guilty of this)

and also pay a tiny bit more attention to the form (I think the hooded character isn't quite sitting in the percieved 3D space as much as he/she could

I really enjoy the last goblin, it is very much your style converted to this end, well done.

I think that you should add some value to the piece however, it seems a little flat. Use some darker greys to show form, yada yada, you know the drill ^^

anjin: I'm so happy you noticed my biggest source of inspiration! I've always wanted my style to have that european comicbook style rather than the feeling of japanese anime. I don't quite understand what you mean about the goblin though, but I'm really curious to find out. Perhaps there is something I can change now that I'm in progress wih it?

I'm constantly trying to improve my digital colouring and I'm definitly focusing on putting the lights and shadows in the right places. Thank you for your critique! It's very helpful.

Buckster: Yup, I know what you mean dear.. I'll sit down and work on the values today if I have the energy.

Peter_K: I'm glad you think so! I've always thought that motion is what I lack most in my art. :3

Homeless Foxman: I'm taking a class after summer, studying the human figure and dynamic anatomy.

I'm having some problem with the motivation right now when it comes to opening books about anatomy. But I definitly need to work on it. Thank you for your critique! ^__^

I don't do that alot since my personal taste lean otherwise, but I love this little character I drew on the train a few days ago.

Well... I think that in Europe there a lot of different styles for comic, 'caused for a lot of different country. French comics are super high level, in my opinion. Well from your girls style and the goblin there is a style difference... but maybe is something only in the WIP. I find the color in the goblin maybe more "painting" the illustration like other things you did. Maybe is only my impression...
