Grendel or Beowulf ? I think that would be pretty cool... anyone else agree? We could make some pretty tough-looking characters...
I like the idea of Grendal or beowulf. both of those are pretty neat.

I don't know if this has been suggested, sorry if it's a repeat.
The embodiment of an emotion.
The artist could chose the emotion or everyone could draw the same emotion. (IE: Love, Fear, Embarrassment, Overwhelmed, Hopeful.)
What the emotion would look like if it took a physical form. Add a description of why they are drawn the way they are drawn.
Okay, something a little more serious: I've watched "Constantine" yesterday...
How about "Mammon, the son of satan"? Some kind of antagonist to Jesus or whatever...
Or was that a topic already?
The Thumbeline Tribe Member
Male or Female.
Thumbelina was a fairy tale character, no bigger then your thumb I guess.
Anyways set in modern time or maybe 200 years back.
They have access to human technology but dont really have any of their own.
I guess they are to small to be able to forge metal so they maybe use needles as weapons and have to wear spider silk or something.

Since there's been a round for older people (baba yaga) and males (queen's consort) recently, maybe have a round to illustrate one of the children from well-known fairy tales? I was thinking little red riding hood or maybe goldilocks with bonus points if you include the wolf/the three bears and make the creatures into distinctive characters without including 'gender-specific' clothing to indicate which is the daddy/mummy/baby.
Man, I'll say this now but it makes me shy: Showing your own interpretation of a video game villain. Sort of the "I woulda made him this way" type of thing, but possibly picked randomly by ChoW mods. I'm biased myself because I always think of King Koopa from Super Mario. Or even Dr. Robotnik from Sonic the Hedgehog. Tee hee! *runs*
Pardon if someone said this already. I was too lazy to look today.![]()

The (in)famous goddess of the Lovecraft mythos.
The (black) goat of the woods.
Described by Lovecraft as an "evil cloud-like entity"
But maybe she/he looks very different?
Give her a different look. Horrible, cute, sinister, strange, alien, sexy, whatever...
Just my two cents.
we have folklore creatures here in the philippines that i might suggest...
tikbalang - head and feet of a horse with human body
manananggal - literally means "the one who detaches" usually female with huge wings like of bats and her body detaches from her hips

Okay, guys, personal request. Lately we've had a lot of literature/pop-culture characters and stuff... Anyone have some neat ideas for characters that are just in your head? A specially built character for chow?
I'd like to see some Aerial Ballerinas all up ins. I suppose that'd be more of a costume design excercise rather than a character design one...
Alvaro, Protector of the Fountain - once a brave and adventurous soldier, there was no adventure to big. He was rumored to have killed several dragons, two he fought at the same time. And even that stint with the harem in the orient did nothing to tarnish his name. Until one day he was told of a far off place, full of mystery, and the greatest prize man could seek, "The Fountain of Youth." Alvaro, being who he was, took this quest venturing far and wide in search of this incredible treasure. He was one of the few to meet the Protectoress, a cunning woman who tricked him into following her. For she knew the Fountains location and only through her could anyone reach it. Through a series of trials, Alvaro was cursed. Now, he is an old, wretched creature that protects his master and the fountain for all eternity, never able to drink from its waters or to warn others that may suffer his fate.
The Protectoress - possesses all the knowledge of the Fountain of Youth. She curses or grants access to adventurers seeking to drink of its waters. She is untamable and one never knows what fate will bring them when they run into her.
Dean Donloe was once a Chicago Assistant District Attorney until in 1981 he was elected to become Earth's first and only Sentinel, a member an interplanetary police force created by an alien confederacy as a result of Mankind's use of atomic power in Space Shuttles during the Cold War. Donloe's career as the Sentinel lasted 37 years until his position was terminated when Earth was classified as "Excessively Violent and Socially Unenlightened". Forced never again to don his Sentinel uniform in the name of Earth, Donloe became jaded and embittered towards humanity taking on the mindset of many alien species he met. He then went to live in a Tibetan Temple where he sought "self enlightenment" once again harboured his narcissism. It wasn't till 2012 that a 52-year-old Donloe decided to go against the Confederacy's order and once again become The Sentinel of Earth.
The Sentinel suit is a antique of a now lost planet, whose destruction set the creation of the Confederacy in motion. Black and covered in a series of diodes, the suit is the pinnacle of both nano and holographic technology able to repair itself and create tangible, hard light constructs from shields to beams of concussive force (essentially the same effect the green lantern ring has)
And of course, with the birth of the artist came the inevitable afterbirth - the critic.
The Warlord of Alantis.
Grendel and Beowulf would be very good, gets my vote!!
Ok....I have two ideas....
First.....
Dimon from The Golden Compass movie and book.............it could be kind of a self-portrait with your dimon together (you would need to have a great imagination for creating your own dimon) what animal would it be? what would ne its personality, as the dimon is aprt of your own soul.....it could be interesting.........Or just forget about the self-portrait and create just your dimon...
Second idea.....
The Dark Circus...........you could create any character who takes part of a circus.... but it must be dark......kind of scary clown.....or scary contortionist....etc...

Si-Nro, The Cosmic Judge
A being eons years, he wonders the universe in search of planets with sentient life and judges its inhabitants accordingly. Those that are worthy to exist are given Ultimate Knowledge and are allowed to create Utopias; Those who aren't are destroyed in order to allow new, and hopefully more prospective life forms to develope.
Though in reality he is a ball of energy the size of a planetoid floating through space, he presents himself to the planets he visits in a form similar to its inhabitants albeit composed of energy and dressed in the clothes of his now long extinct race.
Si-Nro doesn't go about his job out of malice or power. Only a handful of planets have the capability of maintaining Life and in most cases the inhabitants of said Planets slowly destroy that miracle. He does what he does out of duty and hope
And of course, with the birth of the artist came the inevitable afterbirth - the critic.
this is a minor idea that came up today... rather specialist for gamers... but more people should look into blizzard's art team
anyway... the archivist was announced as a playable class (for april fools) for Diablo III (mmm... books ^vv^)
just outta interest: a female version of the Archivist class...

This is a nice one , "The rock climber" This could be also a crossover with IDW , The character is place in a steampunk period and he drives an insane self build machine that is made for rough train and climbing rock/cliffs , he/she's a bit crazy, and that's why he/she drives this thing .
Some ideas for team chow:
Group 1:
A normally inanimate object that can communicate with other people in an interesting way (can't speak)
A character that keeps and protects the object. Lawful good alignment wise. Shouldn't be especially smart or powerful.
A love interest for the keeper, who gets captured by the Big Bad. I was thinking classic damsel in distress, but could be fun if you switched the usual gender roles. Wears flashy clothes and tends to do things that draw attention to the group when they'd rather not be noticed.
Mercenary bought by the keeper. Smart, but not especially powerful. Can use a weapon, but not better than any normal experienced user. Has savvy and negotiation skills. Will fight dirty. Will be crazy prepared. Well suited for recaptuing the love interest.
Nonhuman sidekick of the mercenary. May be sentient or not.
Group 2:
Absurdly intelligent evil mastermind. Equal parts Chessmaster and squishy wizard. Neutral evil.
Male. Very Big. Very strong. Enslaved by the evil mastermind. Plays the part of the Dragon. Chaotic neutral, may join the heroes if he gets his freedom.
Honorable warrior and antagonist working under the evil mastermind. Master of one weapon. Generally competent in a wide variety of areas, but scared or resentful of one discipline (scared of machines or magic, resentful of acedemia, whatever.) Lawful Evil.
Cute, nonhuman sidekick of the evil warrior. Completely useless in conventional combat. Fiercely loyal. True Neutral.
Master of war and every weapon conceivable. Carries an absurd number of them, both conventional and exotic. Lawful neutral.
Once a legendary hero to his people and to the world, now this character has thrown his lot in with the forces of evil. No one knows why.

Priest of Cthulhu You all know Our Lord Cthulhu. Imagine the costume and props and perhaps even physical deformities of a priest of this malevolent deity.
asks humbly for your opinion
Garuda - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garuda. would be very cool
Design a villain for the James bond 007 world, description, gadgets or tool of trade must be included.

My TUMBLR!
The flu that came along now made me think of The Spanish Lady. Which is the nickname for the Spanish Sickness/Flu, the 1918 flu pandemic that killed somewhere between 20 and 100 million people... It was often depicted as a Spanish lady. Would be interesting to see some new takes on that?

I was thinking about the embodiment of the flu, when I started thinking of the four riders of the apocalypse... Having people do whichever one they wanted? (or all 4?) Maybe this is a challenge better suited for something else...
Dunno who here plays TF2 (Team Fortress 2), but female versions of any of those characters would be nice. :3 (I think it's criminal that there aren't any females personally)just outta interest: a female version of the Archivist class...

The Geomancer / Elemental Scryer
"Geomancy (Greek: γεωμαντεία, "earth divination") is a method of divination that interprets markings on the ground or the patterns formed by tossed handfuls of soil, rocks, or sand."
The character would embody the methods of divination described as geomancy. How it is represented would be up to each individual. It could be more technological, steam punk, fantasy or anything else you can think of. But they must, in some way, embody a natural/random form of fortune telling explained here:
"Geomancy requires the geomancer to create sixteen lines of points or marks without counting, creating sixteen random numbers. Without taking note of the number of points made, the geomancer provides the seemingly random mechanism needed for most forms of divination. Once the lines are produced, the geomancer marks off the points two by two until either one or two points remain in the line; mathematically, this is the same as producing two dots if the number is even or one dot if the number is odd. Taking these leftover points in groups of four, they form the first four geomantic figures and form the basis for the generation of the remaining figures. Once this is done, the "inspired"[9] portion of the geomantic reading is done; what remains is algorithmic calculation."
The two parts I put in " marks are from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geomancy
This is another somewhat decent link to learn more about geomancy. http://www.answers.com/topic/geomancy
