    Eerin's Sketchbook - UPDATED 5/2

    BETTER STUFF LATER ON > > >

    (at least I think so?)

    EDIT:
Currently 18, probably going to AAU this coming fall, and needing to get tons of times better at art (so if you have any suggestions or critiques, please share! ).

Constructive critiques (and paint overs) are most welcome =)

    Please take care of me~

I LOVE the second one! it reminds me of a Buddhist statue: totally immersed in nature. The perspective on the shattered pieces drawing is really interesting. That must have been difficult to draw.
Awesome first post. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm about to make the switch from Lurker to Art-Sharer.

Davezilla - thanks! =) The second one is indeed a Buddhist statue. And the shattered pieces you were referring to are actual mirror shards glued to the artwork.

Forgot to add that I shortened the hands for the piece with the tattered flag but I still think there are a lot of proportional mistakes. Not to mention the fact that I'm not particularly fond of the way she is sitting.

    And here's a sketch I did a while back:

Yes, she must have very flexible knees to sit that way
Apart from that the attitude looks good to me.
Maybe you could work the lighting to make it more dramatic.

I also like the last sketch. Do you plan to color it?

    And welcome to CA!

Leo Ki - Thanks! =) and yes, at some point in the past I did plan to color it, but I never got around to it. Maybe I will get around to it sometime in the future though... =)

Here are two stuff I've been working on.
First one is a work in progress. The second one is inspired by Andrew Jones.

Some stuff I've done in the past two days...

Two character designs (one of which is still in progress) and some figure drawing.

A WIP and a finished doodle (the latter inspired by Andrew Jones).

Not really sure where I'm heading with the character design.....particularly got no clue what her hands will be doing =)

Hey Eerin - some really cool stuff you've done here - I love the flow and character they have

I hope you finish that one of the lady with the bow and only one hand so far... her arms do look as if they may be connecting to quite wide shoulders for her body though - otherwise a lovely concept - she'd work perfect in a sunny woodland glade or entering a cave in the side of a mountain valley...

keep up the great work and studies - look forward to seeing more

The7Artist7 Thanks! =) I actually do not know whether I will ever finish that image. I have a tendency to completely abandon something once I grow tired of it and move on =(

Oranje Joe Thank you~ but she's actually in plate mail and not a bra xD (but given the linework, I can see why it looks so )

Two more little things I did a while back... (yes its the infamous overused PS butterfly brush )
A reference photo was used for the tiger's head (photo made into a tiger head painter brush).

    Welcome Eerin!

That´s a great start of a sketchbook. Well, there is no much to criticize for real.
You are very good at characters, especially their faces look nice.
Also nice to see you try different techniques and workflows for your paintings.

Mhh... maybe some boys or men next time ^^

    Cheers

    Xaya

Hehe no worries, I do the same! I'm liking those last two - the tiger looks like it's on drugs or something! 'whoa - I knew I shouldn't have eaten that hippy'

    Keep up the great work!

    The7Artist7 thanks and I'll try~
Xaya much appreciated~ here are some of those "some boys or men" xD

Some classical Greek sculptures (great for contrapposto study). The last one is done from a reference pic I found online.

Nice sketchbook, I can see improvement!
I absolutely love the girl with the swords, great lines and gesture and the colours really appeals to me. Would love to see more along those lines, looks very professional. Only thing that's a bit off is her left hand, looks a bit quirky and is too small compared to her right.

Totally love the last two digitals, the color sheme on the one with the tiger is just amazing. Overally great work. I'd fail to give you a crit on any of those. Actually I'm really pissed off right nwo beacause I'm also 17 and you show me were I could be now if I wasn't so lazy over the last several years I'm waay behind.

Yes I'm 17 as well, and yes you also show me where I could be if I wasn't so lazy. (not to be picky but look at pictures of real bow's when you draw them, the one ol' one hand is holding couldn't actually be used, the recurve would pop the string. or maybe it doesn't matter, yeah probably not, I'm carving a bow right now, and so that stuck out to me) Either way I really like the digital painting, thats what I need to learn how to do, that last traditional/charcoal one, is very nice also. Keep posting!

Kurjuus thank you very much! You won't believe how lazy I am actually...
photosynthesis I really wasn't looking at a ref when I sketched in the bow, so thanks! (carving a bow sounds fun) =)

Here's a little character doodle (one I actually did a while back). Horse photo was used for reference.

Wow, you are certainly improving quickly! The figure from post #9 is beautiful, easily one of my favorites in here. You've got a great handle on anatomy, posing, and rendering; I also really like the experimentation with some of your paintings. Inspiring stuff I must say Keep going, I'll definitely be stopping back in!

Colored version of the sketch I posted in the previous post. I tried to emulate WoW coloring style. This took entirely too long.
