Satori's SB - Pencil-, Photoshop- and Pensketchtes

Hey people

Ok, now that I'm more or less done with my porftolio, I've decided to take some time to do some concious developement on my skills - instead of just jumping from subject to subject like a creative ADS-monkey.
I hope that posting my stuff constantly will keep me on track and motivate me to be more disciplined.

About me:
21 years old, cheerfull dude, curious..etc.
oh and I live in Switzerland, Bern (the capitol) and am planing to go to an illustration school in NY this year.

anyway

since I really want to make some progress, don't hold back if you feel there's some advice that could help me, even if its harsh. I'm quite confident, so I can probably deal with anything you can come up with.

Got started on this one today, quite happy, since I have trouble with color.

small update, did some work on the nose and the lips
tomorow, the hair and the neck/chest area are gona get cleaned up
and then last but not least the background will have to be taken care of.. oh boy..

This was only supposed to be a quick warm up sketch and then I just never found the moment to stop. boring composition and stuff, since I didn't plan any of it. I've been working on this for the last 4-5 hours.
here it is. maybe I'll finish it.

I like the girl with the ponytail a lot , the vampire on the egg could do with a bit more work, nice idea tho

yup, especially the anatomy is quite coincidental
will probably take a lot of work, since I'd first have to find a fitting reff.

yeah man all you need is some reference....think wheat fields or ireland inthe fall.....something with dead tall grass....the vampire...ess looks like its coming along. From what i hear about swiss women you should be able to find some nice reference

i think what will make that piece is if you really can nail the reflective light on either side

hi sartori, geriatric serial killers thats a new one and a good one, I like the fact that youv done it in innocent pastel colours and not the darks you might associate with a mad granny. v nice work

@hedwordup: thx, I hope I can still the killer-vibe enough, its not that obvious yet, but maybe I'll try a subtle approach

I really like how the portrait of the blond girl is coming out.
I always seem to have some trouble with getting the hair to flow correctly and look right, but you did a really nice job on it.
Theres something about the lips that seems to work really well to.
Great stuff.

@Arrowhead: thx, happy you like it, I think it might be the reflected light on the upper lip that makes it work, it somewhat counter-intuitive, but thats the fun thing about working with reference, when one starts to realize, what gives stuff the authentic edge without puttin in tons of details.

heres some sketches of little kids, jus trying to get the feel for these kinds of faces. may come in handy.

You've got a really nice SB going here, as with everyone else, I'm digging the portrait of the blond woman, it has a great sense of glowing light.

I do think, however that you could push your values a lot more. As they are now, all your paintings are in need of darker values to give forms more weight and lend some balance.

As far as sketching in photoshop, have you tried a 100% opacity brush with the opacity jitter set to pen pressure and your tablet pressure set to soft? That's what works best for me!
